well, took the car into dealer at 35970 miles yesterday, to one, get my other two new RSA's put on (after a long battle with Pontiac, see post in TSB area), and two, to show them a reoccuring oil leak coming from the driver side, intake/head area, which is then trailing down the block along where the tranny is connected, and then runs down the oil pan. it is very light, aka no oil drops on ground, but still enough to wet that trail. it worries me that it might need another intake gasket replacement already. i say another because i had the new design gasket put in back in april for a similiar oil leak. hmmph. anyway, they put the fluorescent dye in the oil to pinpoint the leak, as it is hard to see in that area. anyone know anything about this dye? how long can you drive with this in you oil? does it not make any difference? just curious because they did not even tell us when to come back in to take a look for the dye leak. even though i'll be looking myself.

if its what I tihnk it is, you need blacklight to look at it. shouldn't hurt.

no, it shouldn't hurt the car at all... my sister had it done twice actually on her '96 stratus. she kept having a leak that they couldn't identify. the dye helped them to see if it was an oil leak and to find out what needed to be replace. i think she needed a new gasket or something..i dunno...that was a year ago.

They dye is fine! I have had it in my car once. It stays in there until you change your oil. Only visible with a black light!
