I love my GA, but I hate the brakes and rotors. I just had new rotors (or so I thought) put on by a dealership back in November. 7K miles later and $500 after the fact, my rotors were shot. I was tired of getting screwed by the dealerships, so I took my car to a friend of my b/f's. He's a great guy, honest, and hard worker. He takes my wheels off, and pulls the rotors off to re-surface them (because I thought they were new). He couldn't re-surface them because the dealership from which I got them put old-cut rotors on my car and charged me for new ones. Not to mention, they never cleaned off the rust and grime off the place where they attach, so they never met up and never were true. I am so bent at this point. I have the rotors in my trunk, and I plan to stop by the dealer and play dumb girl. I'll say, "excuse me, can these rotors be cut again?" When they say "no", i'll say... ok, well you put these on my car as new rotors 6 months ago... you to the math... f-ing a******. So the guy charged me a great deal, since my b/f is good friends with him to put new brakes and rotors on my GA for the 3rd time since i've owned it. Yea, 3rd time for brakes and rotors in little over 3 years... and no I don't stomp on my brakes. Well, they started squeaking, and then after a 400+ mile trip this past weekend, I noticed they stopped. So I figured whatever was making them squeak, a peice of dirt or something worked its way loose. Or I figured that the rotors were new and the squeaking was just them breaking in. Well, I took a look at my left rotor today, and there is a line, all the way around the rotor about an inch from the outside. It's not a line, it's a dig mark. Where if you run your fingers over it, (don't do it right after driving  ) you can feel the dig mark. So now i'm infuriated... I know it's not this guys fault. I'm just generally unhappy right now with my GA. I'm in the process of buying out my lease, and i'm seriously contimplating selling it. I won't get a car half as decent and nice for the price i'm paying to buy the car out, so I really don't want to do that. But is it worth it to be afraid my brakes will always get messed up everytime I drive?? I've had more problems with my GA in the 3 yrs i've had it then anyone has ever known. I've already written one complaint letter to Pontiac about dealerships, and i'm about to sit here and write another. Does anyone have any suggestions of what could be wrong with that left front rotor? of why it's dug like that??? I really don't want to have to call the brake guy back, but it looks like i'm going to have to... :(

yes the Delphi rotors on the Grand Am suck major ass... after mine started to warp the second time i upgraded to powerslot rotors from www.pfyc.com ...52k miles later no problems or fade... nothing... i highly recommend them ...best of luck

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into those power slots. Hey, how do you like your trailblazer? When I mentioned that I was pondering selling the GA, i'm looking into either a trailblazer or the GMC Envoy. How good/bad is it on gas, and have you tried towing with it yet? My b/f and I both have sportbikes that we'd like to tow on our trailor, and I was curious how good the t-blazer or Envoy would be.

if u bought stock rotors and 7k miles later they were shot..shouldnt there be some kinda warranty on the rotors...im not sure if there is, but theres basically a parts warranty on every other GM replacement part

Never take your car to the poniac dealership all they do is mess up your car and not fix it very well, all they do is charge you tons of money and later ur car would be braking down again, take it to a place they would do the right job

...jetblack: i got my TrailBlazer about 3 weeks ago... haven't towed with it yet (not sure if i will b/c i really don't have anything to tow lol) ...so far i love it... rides very nice for a truck... has good pep to it too... i have the LT model, regular wheelbase with the 27hp I6... gas mileage on those from the factory says 16 city, 22 highway... i couldn't tell you how the mileage is though since it's still in the breaking in stage and under 1,000 miles...

Just a Trailblazer comment...
My parents bought one brand new(first in town to get one) and we love it! The thing we like the most is how it handles in parking lots and stuff like that. Very, very nice. It pulls awesome as well, as we haul our boat around quite often.
They have changed it for the better over the years. They did away with that stupid computer controled environmental system and put it a regular one. Much better I hear. We have had so many problems with that damned thing...
Anyway, you can't go wrong with one!
