I already searched and didnt find what I was looking for, so here goes:

How well does light come through with a few coats of that stuff on? I was originally going to just to my tail lights with 2-4 coats and then replace the stock bulbs with LEDs. But then I got to lookin and thought that my fog lights and reverse lights should be black too, if my headlights and taillights are going to be. Makes sense right? However, I would like to maintain some functionality out of said lights. So once again, how dark would 2-4 coats of Nite Shade be on my reverse and fog lights? I'm obvioulsy not expecting it to be just as bright as stock, but I dont want completely black either.

Also, how much do you think I would need to do all the 6 lights (tails, reverse and fogs) with 4 coats?

It depends how heavy you make each coat. On the '00 GAGT, I sprayed about 6 light coats on the entire light. The lights shine through very clear.

The best thing to do is just do a few light coats, then put them back on the car and hit the brakes. Keep repeating this until your desired level of darkness is reached.

Before you drive around with you LEDs in, check their brightness. If I'm correct, they're dimmer than the stock lights.

Just a tip... after you spray the light, sand them smooth with 1500 grit sandpaper and using polishing compound.. then wax and buff them out.

For me, one can did two sets of tail lights.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help man. I was under the impression that LEDs would be brighter than the stock lights. Hmm. . . . . Looks like I just saved $34 then!

To add to Matt's suggestion, for a polish, 3M hand glaze works excellent. And be sure to wet sand, it will work much better than dry sanding.

A couple coats of clear coat once you're satisfied with the result will make them look 100% factory. Follow the clear up with a 1500 wet sand and polish, and you'll have a great (perfect!) result.

Also, make sure you test them in full daylight. I made the mistake of tinting mine and testing them at night... once daylight came, you couldn't see the lights at all :(

If worst comes to worst, you can remove the tint spray with some alcohol and elbow grease (assuming you haven't used the clear coat yet).

Did you just spray the tint on the outside of the light, or the inside?

Thanks,
Brett

Jegs sells VHT Nite Shades (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=3909&prmenbr=361)

Once again, thanks for everyone's help. And Ryan, its really nice to know that I can take this stuff off if it doesnt turn out good or I get pulled over too many times.

Thanks,
Brett

If you think you may have to remove it, then don't sand the actual lens itself as noted in the N-Body Tech instructions. Also, if you sand the DOT markings off, be sure to buff them so they're 100% smooth before tinting. Otherwise you wont be able to remove the tint spray from the affected areas.

I'm not sure how long after painting you can remove the tint. I removed it from mine after 5 days with no problem, but after its been on there for a year, who knows.
