LED Brake Lights

Are the LED replacement bulbs brighter than the stock bulbs or not? I'm getting my passenger side taillight replaced on Monday and Tuesday I plan on spray tinting both of them. If I got LED bulbs would they shine through the tint at night better than the stockers?
