Tired of the ole diamond mesh? Well, www.customcargrills.com now offers hexagon style mesh. We now have a special die that will make it for us and it is pretty nice. I just got in the first pallet of it yesterday.
Right now I am just offering sheets of 12"x48" and you cannot get this precut into a grill from me, it is just sold as a sheet. The good thing is that the 12"x48" size will fit most anything you have and more than likely you will only need to buy one sheet. For stock or body kits, this is a pretty cool way to go for a different look.

Now Ryan from Grafxwerks will have to make a copy of that pattern for the mesh inlays if it becomes popular. Right now that pattern doest match up.

Yeah, if you guys want samples of the hexagon mesh I have some 4x6's ready to go. I can send samples of diamond mesh along w/ it too if you ask. Just email me your address and what you want and Ill have it out this Friday or maybe Monday.
Here is a better picture of my diamond mesh vs my hexagon mesh. This is about a 1.5x-2.0x scan of it.

how much is a sheet of that going for?
customcargrills
07-26-2003, 10:59 AM
It is $39.99 for the sheet and then $9.99 for shipping in the US through UPS ground for a total of $49.98.
If there is enough people I could do a group rate at a significant discount ($10 off) to bring it down under $40.

LOL... no… not joking
Customcargrills.com Mesh is:
6" x 36" Diamond = $13.99 + shipping
12" x 48" Diamond = $33.99 + shipping
12" x 48" Hexagon = $39.99 + shipping
Around here APC 8" x 48" diamond mesh goes for $40 a sheet. Mine is not only in a bigger sheet but also stronger. For locals the shipping is a wash and the value is much greater. For those online it is a decent price but if you are into grills, it is a one stop shop.
Anyway, the diamond mesh is priced to compete w/ the "national" brand. The hexagon mesh it priced above it since MY costs on it are higher and since you can’t get it anywhere else.

It's true, I have seen APC car grill around here for a similar price actually.

Lowes: $1.08 per sheet for hexagon Gutter Guard. 3 sheets will more than do a GA. All you have to do is trim yourself.

Yeah... can't deny that at all. If you want to half-ass a grill that is definitely a good way to go. Watch out for the discoloration, rust, and laughing that might be a result of it.
If you ever want to stop by DJCobol and check out the real mesh, I live about 5 minutes away from you. Since the lot is down this year, we are meeting up behind Classic Stereo on 28th on Fridays and you can catch me there too in the customcargrills.com mobile.

mine isn't discolored, and doesn't rust. People don't laugh at my car, that's mean.

I know that was mean but trust me... I have replaced enough of the stuff. It will discolor fast and then over time it will rust hard. A lot of my business is taking the gutter guard off and putting the real mesh in.
Maybe it is just in my area but if you use gutter guard, you kinda get laughed at. I am sure other areas that don't know what it is are different.

Well, I guess you can call me r1ce then. I think it is funny that you bash on Classic Stereo and yet you have not gone recently. The front of classic had some r1ce last week but no one was in the cars (go figure)
Last week I went w/ my friends that have a Turbo MX6, Turbo RS Eclipse, H22 Prelude, and well done up Avenger. There was a lot of good domestic cars including a bagged new cavy w/ molded bodykit.
It is a bummer that a lot of jackasses got Rogers screwed up, but to my knowledge there was not any nincompoopary at 555-auto or the old K-Mart. Orbit Room was supposed to be the new spot but no one ever showed.
Just out of curiosity, where are you meeting at?
Related side note: unless you have been to Classic and checked out the rides there recently, I would quit the stereotyping that seems to go along w/ a good group of guys that are car enthusiast.
Also, curious... what modes do you have done to YOUR car?

True. I painted my old gutterguard twice in a year, replaced it once, and it still kept fading and discoloring. Finally I gave up and built a grill out of substantial (18 ga.) steel mesh. :D
No reason to get worked up guys. DJCobol you are more than welcome to use gutterguard. I did and liked the effect. Customcargrills is just trying to offer an option for people who want something different.

Since when does aluminum rust? Last time I checked it just loses it's sheen due to the weather, which any polished metal will do if not upkept.
If you use the right paint, the right clear coat, or the right polyurethane then you won't have any problems. You have to remember, rocks and debris do hit that thing and it's bound to show it's age. It's inevitable!

Since when is Gutter Guard made of aluminum?
Premium Hinged Gutter Guard from Gutter World (what 99% of GG people use) is expanded and flatted galvanized carbon steel. It is galvanized BEFORE they expand and flatten the metal. Once expanded, there is raw steel exposed on the inside of the diamond. Once raw steel is exposed to the elements, let alone driving conditions, it will corrode and eventually rust.
Aluminum mesh (from me) will oxidize fast and leave black residue behind that is not visible by the naked eye. Once it is oxidized the black residue will protect the aluminum from the elements.

Well, last time I checked, Lowes and Menards, and I'm pretty sure Home Depot sell aluminum gutter guard. Since I work at Menards, and I work in the department that GG is sold, I think I know.

I wasnt trying to call you out specifically. I'm just calling it as I see it. I went by there 2 weeks ago and every car had some god-awful body kit, neon/LED undercar lights, strobes, cobra eyes, fart cans, etc. . . . I know there are a few legitamatley fast cars in that group that have done it right and havent gone overboard with the visual insanity, but they are by far the minority.
Just out of curiosity, where are you meeting at?
Honestly I dont know. The last three spots I've seen have ben shut down, so I cruise 28th and see if anyone else found a decent spot.

I was there last week looking at amps and a remote car starter. I was in the store for about 45 minutes, and in that time at least 10 of your average suburbanite white wigger ricer crowd came in and was "oooohh"in and "aaaaaahhh"ing at the ractive exhaust tips and light up valve stem covers. Yeah, thhose some serious car enthusiasts! I'm still cool with the guys at Classic. They cant help what management makes them sell. The guy I buy all my stuff from cant stand that sh*t any more than I can. Just remember kids, stereotypes exist for a reason.
Also, curious... what modes do you have done to YOUR car?
K&N WAI with a SLP exhaust on the way for performance mods. Appearance wise I have tinted windows and headlight covers. Not too bad for only having the car for a month. No, I dont have a light up exhaust tip. No, I dont have god-awful neon/led underbodies. No, I dont have a neon license plate frame. No, I dont have f*cking retarded *** rear spoiler or any kind of non-functional wing. No, I dont have enough LEDs in my interior to light up a city block. No, I havent lowered my car so much that it hurts to ride in now and it scrapes on even the smallest bumps. No, I dont have 20" bling bling spinner rims with 10 series tires tucked into the wheel wells. No, I dont have a body kit that looks like it belongs on the front of a train rather than on a car. No, I dont have a vinyl "Fast and furious" decal set for the entire side of my car. No, I dont have a 5" monster tach and shift light screwed into my dashboard.

Also, I don't know why gutter guard would ever be made out of steel since steel rusts. That is definately one of the most retarded things anyone has ever done or come up with.
Well I could check again. Premium Hinged Gutter Guard from Gutter World is expanded and flatted galvanized carbon steel. The SUPER cheapo rolled gutter guard w/ the wrong diamond pattern is aluminum and is super flexible.

Yet again, yes it is close... but I am glad to see you sampled it and got your own educated answer... might want to get the free sample before hand.
If you want gutter guard get the damn gutter guard. If you want real mesh come to me. I mean hell... do you guys think I use gutter guard? If you can find a 12" x 48" sheet of of gutter guard for a body kit let me know...

DJCobol Well, I know you didn't specifically single me out but I would say none of my friends (who occupy most of the space there) were as described by you. I don't like a lot of the ricey stuff down there too but hey man... some of those guys are just starting. Intake here, Exhaust there... I was the same way 3-4 years back.
As far as what Classic sells... that has nothing to do w/ who meets there later on. They don't advertise about it. They sell what they think is hot and what has a good profit. Not everyone can sell a 3.4L specific intake, ya know? Just curious, where do you get you parts from?
As far as your car, that is a good start. I never even inferred you had anything done in poor taste. To each his own on his car. Just for jiggles, Ill post my car on there in case you see it around town. I know you'll bash it, but hey... this seems to be a good site sponsor bash thread anyway.

Maybe I just picked a bad night to check it out then, but what I saw was the same core group of people that acted like idiots and got everyone kicked out of the lot.

Maybe, maybe not. I know Classic is sponsoring a race night at Martin. I was there for one of them. **** fest big time. Most of the cars there for the Classic Stereo thing and not just regular TNT were running mid 17s at best. However, I know its a business and you sell what makes money. Unfortunatley what makes them money right now is pretty tacky. The two performance mods I have so far have come from two different places. The K&N I got at a place called Detroit Speedworks. The SLP exhaust will probably come from APOC on a group buy as soon as I see another one start up.

Actually, I think your car looks pretty nice. No ricer wing, no hideous body kit, a few plain solid color graphics, some performance mods, nice rims, etc. . . . All in all I say well done! I'm still not a neon fan, but to each their own I guess.

DJCobol Well let me know if you ever find another spot. I suspect Roger's Plaza will let us back in next year or the year after. From what I hear, this same trend of new age idiots happened back in the mid 80's. Supposedly the V8's were kicked out of Roger's for years at a time and let back in. Same trend... just w/ 4 cylinders this time.
I think this weekend we are going to try the Classic spot again. Since there is nothing else... If you want to drop in feel free to. Knowing my luck, there will be a bunch of ricers there, :( , but last week there was some cool stuff and even some nice large trucks.
As far as my car, I thought for sure I would get some graphics bashing but hey... thanks. Trust me... it is a bitch to mod out a Saturn. I am surprised you have not seen the car before. I am frequently down Baldwin and before I graduated from GV, I was always around town.

I don't think it is pre-cut, it seems to be in sheets. Correct me if I'm wrong customcargrilles

Yes, that is correct. This is all in reference to hexagon sheets which are NOT precut.
I also stock sheets of:
6" x 36" Diamond
10" x 36" Diamond
6" x 48" Diamond
12" x 48" Diamond
12" x 48" Hexagon
or you can also buy precut grill in diamond mesh only.

why dont you do a precut of the hexagon for the GA's?
customcargrills
07-28-2003, 01:35 PM
The clips I use do not fit. Without the clips the top and back pieces will not install the way they are designed to.
I could get the GAGT pattern cut in hexagon if you like, but there would not be anyway to attach it from what I would give you. I am sure you could devise your own install method, but that would depend on the buyer.

do you precut for the *** front?
customcargrills
07-28-2003, 07:32 PM
Nope. I don't know of anyone w/ that front end.
If you have a pattern or dimensions I could cut to fit but off hand I cannot get it make because I don’t have access to it.
