I was wondering if these mods would be too hard on my tranny. One of my friends is positive that it will but i don't believe it or i refuse too. heres the link: http://www.streetarsenal.com/3400sfi.php?autoType=Grand%20AM
any help would be greatly appreciated thatnks.

i was wondering the same thing. our trannys can only handle like 215 lbs/ft. With the PnP UIM/LIM/TB and Head work plus, if yer like me and want to get headers....then i tHinK we're talkin of exceeding the limit. But i've been told that if you get the DHP reprogram, along with a tranny cooler and new mounts, then you should be safe. Did that help?

215...
There have been several of us WAY above that limit for many many miles without any problems. The have been guys that are right over that number with few problems. I was at 215 for about 50k miles and then 240 for about 15k miles and finally mine wore out. As you can see in the "to mush revving" thread there are things that I could have done, and that can done to limit the wear and tear the unit takes. The DHP PCM for NA/SC cars should REALLY help tranny durability and capacity. A primary reason for the low torque rating seems to relate to the shift speed of the unit. The 45 is programmed to shift slowly for everyday comfort, this is bad for performance, and when you add power through the unit you will just end up adding friction/heat when shifts occur... so you can cool it... but the answer is to change the programming -> DHP.

I have 245 ft-lbs going to my trans right now. I have been running this for 10K miles without a problem. BUT, I do have the ASE chip (same trans mods as DHP) and a trans cooler that keeps temps 160-170 when driven hard. At this time, this is the best you can do until someone comes out with some hard parts for us.
BTW, don't expect those kind of results from Street Arsenal ported & polished products! I have the identical setup by RSM and have 167HP at the wheels which was a net gain of 10HP, 10 ft-lbs. BUT, that was across the ENTIRE RPM band! So, 1/4-mile improvement should be significant!
