I am going to install the civic cai on my car, and was wondering

where the best place to get a filter was. I want a 5" K&N cone

filter. I went to Autozone yesterday to get the tube and filter

and it took the guy like 15 mins to figure out what kind of filter I

was talking about, I was really getting ****ed off and just walked

out.:rage: I cant believe they even hired him.wtf I would

appreciate any tips you can give me on filters and prices.

you can expect a k&n filter to be arounf 40-50 bucks. just get a part number from someone here and then tell the guy and he wont have to ask and questions. hopefully he knows how to process an order. all the places by me have to special order cause k&n cones are rare i guess on cars.

The RR-3003 is a popular choice. It's a 5" cone with an inverted 3" cone in the end piece.

It's the style pictured at the very bottom. It seems to be out of stock at a lot of online vendors. I got mine from summit, where they have a large stock.
I'd also reccomend a water repellant wrap to help keep large debris out of it and keep it from getting wet.
They don't come premade for the RR-3003, but you can go to http://www.outerwearsracing.com/ and they'll custom make you one for $24 shipped.

Brendon, this is the fine print at the bottom of that page...

"These filters are legal ONLY for racing vehicles. Not applicable, nor intended for use on emission controlled street or highway vehicles."

Wow, didn't know K&N filters were illegal... :p

Yeah, open element air filters do not meet the emissions requirements of most states.
Will you get in trouble?

Or a rabbit with a pancake on its head. Good analogy, B. I think I'll have to use that sometime. LoL

I'm actually running a 7" S&B cone filter. From what I know a 9" is the largest that would fit however it'd definitely be a VERY tight fit.

Call this place, www.stylinconcepts.com The showroom is right near my house, and it is a great place. Tell them that you can get the RR-3003 filter at autozone for $53.99. They will sell it to you for $51.99 shipped to your house, mines comin tommorow i hope, good luck.

I couldn't even fit my 7" S&B... go figure. Probably didn't cut out enough metal to angle it right. Who Knows.
a 7" is pretty useless for an engine like ours... even the RR-3003 is total overkill. But it certainly doesn't hurt :)
Like I said though, get a wrap. A rainy day on the freeway you're cone will definately be exposed to a lot of water. I think the wrap is definately a worthwhile investment.
