Everyone should read this article!
http://www.vetteguru.com/mods/howto/
It has some great info on porting the MAF, GMS, fuel trims, air/fuel ratios and how they all relate in GM PCM's. Yes, it is geared for the C5 Vette, but the OBD-II PCM is not that much different than our cars ...

Yeah....I knew all that stuff!! lol
The one thing that Pro M advises against though which is contrary to this article is the use of an inverted cone filter. They've found that using it in conjuction with a MAF without the screen will cause irratic air flow and cause the MAF to give false readings. I know from experience that my car doesn't idle or run as smoothly with the inverted cone as it does the regular cone.
Good article

Really? I ordered an inverted top filter.. but if my idle would be rough and my MAF giving false readings.. I might not want this after all. (Screen is still on the MAF though)

I had no problem at all with my stock MAF and the inverted cone...it was only when I went to the aftermarket MAF without the screen that the engine idled rough. The inverted is fine with the screen in place.
