What is this for? Should I have one on my Civic CAI tube? There's a hole on it which I believe having a breather filter on is the intention. AutoZone sells the little filters for $10 a piece, and I was wondering if it would make any difference.

when you took out the old airbox, there was a hose running from the pipes to another place right? well.. as far as my knowledge, that thing needs to suck a little air every now anda gain, i believe it's for the oil in some way.

soo, yeah, you defenitly wanna get a breather on there, asap, and get your oil changed immediately :)

the breather doesn't go on the tube itself tho (for the cai) mine had a little box that the breather connected too.

(if the civic cai has a hole all set up, then you can probably just hook up the old hose that went to the old air box right to it?)

Um, there was no tube coming from the stock air box. I didn't replace the rubber tubing from the MAF to the intake manifold. This filter wouldn't be for oil, either....it's more like a mini-air filter for the actual Civic CAI tube. No clue...I thought it was weird, too, but I had to ask about it. Anyone got any pics???

A filter breather is a small filter on your valve covers. It either screws in or pushes in where your oil cap is. You don't want to put one in because it creates a vacuum link.

That pipe that you are refering to that runs by the coil packs and into the valve cover is for the pcv system. Positve Crankcase Ventilation. The system works in a circle pretty much and needs to pull in air in order to move it down into the crankcase and up through the pcv valve and to combustion. If you put a breather filter on the valve cover where the tube is supossed to go, there shouldnt be a vaccum leak.

Ok, so would it be beneficial to put one on there, or does it even matter?
