If youve got the money, do what you want! :) Spend your money as you wish. My APoC intake arives next week, ill post up a testimonial :) SLP is the best so far, and the SD Ram Air hood is nice, prepare to pay a good amount on prep and paint though! :)

This would be my list of things to do.

#1 SLP catback
#2 Cold air intake
#3 Tranny cooler and Autotrans interceptor
#4 180 degree thermo
#5 headers and cat
#6 Performace chip
#7 nitrous or supercharger

I would say don't get the ram air hood yet. Just get some good mods. Exhuast and intake would be a really good start.

how serious are you about your car's performance? if the first thing that comes to mind is your car running 13s, i suggest going with headers, high-flow cat, and cat-back (preferably SLP because the pipe diameter is 2.5" as opposed to borla which is 2.25") all at once, an APOC cai, and DHP chip. i would hold off on the hood because if you're getting a cai, the hood will be useless. remember that most of the times, you pay for what you get. spending more now will possibly prevent spending a lot more later. also, you might want to throw in some of the smaller upgrades for engine/tranny management such as a 180 degree thermostat, pullies, belts, tranny cooler. if you're getting a dhp chip, you don't need an autotrans interceptor because they do the same thing: increase line pressure for a harder shift. so that's my .02.

If you are serious about getting the hood, check out the group buy. I think we need only 1 or 2 more people to get the discounted price. I'm looking into exhaust right now but I don't know if i want SLP or Borla. I already have the APOC CAI and I love it. The 180 thermostat is also a good small mod.

i love all the responses.
I guess you need to decide what u want more
looks...or performance
then go from there

mod on

Yea i think i want a little bit of looks and performance
maybe i'll get a slp eshaust, APOC CAI, Ramair hood for looks, the HP chip, and 180 thermo, and other lil things.

If you are looking for performance, don't get the hood yet. Ram air hood is $$ and it's only for looks unless you modifiy it. For that money you can get the exhaust, intake, and other stuff.
Just my .02.

I agree...if you're looking for performance, dont go with the hood yet...I'd order an intake from www.fdpperformance.com (same exact thing as APOC but with no wait) and then go for a catback exhaust (SLP or Borla, do a search and you'll find a shyteload of information)...however, I would recommend against the autotrans interceptor, a lot of people say it shifts too hard, specifically when shifting into or out of park. Instead of spending 130 on the ATI, just drop 300 and get a DHP reprogram. Good luck w/your modding!

I went with the Flowmaster 80 as my first mod so that is what I would also suggest ,plus the CAI.

Whats the difference between the SLP exhaust and the flowmaster 80??

I haven't heard the SLP but have heard from others that the SLP sounds a little metallic. You can't go wrong with either. The Flowmaster seems to quiet down some at higher speeds, but still sounds sweet.

The Flow 80 will give you a nice low, rumbling sound...however, it doesn't offer much in the way of performance. If you want the best sound and performance, I would suggest the full SLP catback system. The CAI would be my first mod if I were you, then exhaust, 180 thermo, DHP chip, then you can get into all the hardcore stuff (headers, nitrous, SC, etc.). If you really want a Ram Air hood, you might check every junkyard around you for an '03 GT. The RA hoods come stock on them, and if you're lucky enough to find a car that has been rear-ended, you could get a very decent price on the hood. Prep and paint will be the same money, but at least you wouldn't have to pay full price.

However, if you're going for looks, do the small, cheap stuff first. Tint would be first, then painted interior, gutter guard grill inserts, cleared HVAC knobs, cleared taillights, graphic inlays, shaved badges, vent visors, painted engine parts, and some other stuff like that. I've done almost all of the little things you can do to our cars, so you can PM me if you need any help. After that, you can go with more expensive stuff like lowering springs, rims, body kit, etc.

Use the search button up at the top of the page to look for anything you may have a question about. Just be prepared to read....A LOT!!! Hope you figure it out, and if you have questions, just ask! Good luck!

Any exhaust you go with there will not be that much hp gain but with other mods you add ,they all work together to get the most out of all.

The Ram Air Hood is not standard on the '03 GT. It is part of the optional SC/T apperance package.

My fault, man. I could have sworn they were standard on the '03's. Anyways, still if he's lucky enough to find a rear-ended "03 with the RA hood, it'd be sweet. Definitely worth a shot.
