View Full Version : DoctorSpeed CAI!!

...i just thought i would post this up... Eric (swtgrndamgt01), myself, and a couple of friends were at Eric's house to install his recently arrived CAI... first off, the packaging, labeling, and install directions of this product were top notch... we were all very impressed... but anyway... we were doing all the necessary install requirements when we ran into a small problem... we weren't sure if maybe we got a wrong piece... so i decided to PM the owner of DoctorSpeed.com and in less than 2 minutes i had a phone call from him and he was walking us through the install... and this was at 9:30pm at night (when most businesses are closed)... sure enough, everything that came in the package was correct and everything fit right... and the CAI sounds NICE!! ...i guess my whole point for posting this is to let people know that there are online vendors that still know what it's like to be a customer and go out of their way to make sure that their customers are satisfied... maybe everybody won't get a phone call (it helps to sort of know the owner :) ) but doctorspeed.com's customer service is top notch... Eric doesn't personally know the owner like I do, but he told me that in the ordering process, all of his questions were answered and that he had a wonderful ordering experience...
...alot of people know that i think Currie's GrafxWerks is great with their customer service, and i became good friends with him afterwards... well doctorspeed.com ranks right up there with GrafxWerks IMO.

why is this thread aloud to stay???? oh ya i know why..... It is a testimonial, not advertising because the no one posting in this thread has a vested interest in or makes a profit off of dr. speed.
Testimonials ARE allowed if you are happy with a product.
Advertising by the owners or representatives of companies that are not paying sponsors IS NOT allowed.
If I am not a sponsor and I run a site selling muffler bearings for the GA and someone buys them, they are allowed to come here and say if they are happy or not with my product and where they bought the product from.
However, since I am not a sponsor, I am not allowed to come here and say that I sell muffler bearings to drum up business or even say "I'm glad you like my product".
We are not trying to prevent word about new companies from getting out, but to prevent undercutting of sponsor's business by non-sponsors.

Relax, I know its competiton, but when people get great service from a retailer, they ought to be able to share their experiences.

I agree even though I dont personally like DR. speed and some of the things they do. I'm just going to keep my mouth shut on that though.
Other people with no store affilation will have to bring it up.
Others have noticed the same things and know what I'm talking about.
But people will look at my opnion as biased because I'm a store owner and not look at it as the opnion of a fellow N-body owner.
so thats why I'm pleading the 5th on this one.
but sweet alero has a point.
we only need one thread about them.

I need to know what a GAGT with slp and the DR speed CAI runs at sea level and if you have dyno numbers on it.

Just wondering about the DR Speed CAI, how does hand polishing the INSIDE help performance at all?!
Also, What are the dimensions of the filter eliment? It seems much skinnier than their competitions' intakes, yet they say they're much bigger?
Does Dr. Speed work with Street Arsenal? They seem to have the same TB setup, that is a stock unit ported with the stock blade.
Also, why are the MSD wires ONLY AVAILABLE at DR. Speed? I see them elsewhere.....
like here (http://www1.ecxmall.com/stores/americanperformance/Detail.bok?searchpath=d8346805f74e932539d2&category=Alero%2FGrand+Am+Performance&start=11&total=18&no=86)

It doesn't, forget I said anything about there being 2 threads. post 10 back to back about them for all I care.
I just have a difference in opnion on them then most do right now.
Yeah their intake does look great but the have no proof its any better than mine or any other intake supplier.
I want some proof to the claims they make.

looks like they read the boards.
now they are trying to claim they were the first to offer these wires. lol
I've been selling them as a special order before dr speed even exzisted.
many members of this board have been buying them by word of mouth before I ever added them to the site.
TRY AGAIN DR. SPEED!!! you were not the first to offer these wires
they have been part of my msd kit for ever since it was released and custom ordered out of the kit since about the same time.

the bickering coming from you and your business, and you thinking your better than everybody else doesnt help your business any. When you own your own business you have to remain NEUTRAL because when you take sides and act like a child it just ****es people off. You also have to realize theres going to be competitors out there no matter what your saleing.
I have to say A+++ from Doctorspeed, least it doesnt take 6 months to get an air intake from them. :D

Can we all just tone this down and keep this civil. .Some people are happy with one product and others are not. Also some people are loyal to sellers and others are not. This thread started out to be a testimonial of sorts and has just gone down hil lfrom there.
On the other Hand.. maybe the issue is that there are so many post for the dr speed cai and should be condensed or deleted.
just my .02 cents..
 Mike

You have to admit.. if I was Aleroboy I would try to stick up for myself.. The doctor speed website does bash his business and try to make profit on it and then makes some misleading comments.
I understand that competition is fierce but its really noticable when it extends beyond the business themseleves and carries down to us.
Love Yall all.. We are all GA brothers and sister arent we.

I understand that and have no problem with that.
I just want the facts to be straight.
and as a member of this board and an N-body owner I'm entitled to my opnion.
I dont bash every one of my compititors just because we compete and sell some of the same stuff.
I try to be civil with most of them.
I personally buy from PFYC and have also given them inside info on products like the headers. When TOG's first came out pfyc didn't know the 99-2000 take one O2 extension and the 2001+ take a different one.
I have no problem giving credit where credit is due.
but Dr speed does make many comments about their competitors or other peoples products and how their products with no proof.
You cant just go saying yours is better without proof.
But I'm the bad guy because I try to defend myself....
I tried to remain neutral, but I'm not gong to sit here and let them bash me and my store.
I'm pretty sure you would stand up for your store too. Any store would. It's called pride in what you do.
I dotn see how that is acting like a child.

I don't think my SLP got louder with a CAI. The more sound to me actually come from the engine bay, not from the rear of the car. So I couldn't tell that my exhaust got any louder.
Take it this way, when you hear your car from the outside, you hear a deep sounding exhuast in the rear, but if you go to the front of the car, you just hear a knocking V6:D The idle sound with the CAI will not be louder, but when you get on it, the rush of air makes your V6 sound beefy. Make sense?

see the thing i dont get is this....... most of us on here are not making enuff power for the intake to make a huge difference.....
and when it comes down to it...... its a friggin piece of pipe with a filter attatched to the end of it.
out of all the cai's out there........ does anyone really believe there is that much of a difference between them in terms of the addtional horsepower and torque they provide????

I think the differences would be minimal. I know I have read articles in magazines where they tested the same car with different CAI. Some made more power than others albeit a couple more HP. Of course the reason I bought mine was for the fact that it required no cutting and looked better than the Civic CAI.
I still don't think they have a dyno with any CAI for the 3.4. And to do it with all the different CAI's out there would be time consuming and expensive.

I would definatley say with the cai and exhaust, it pulls alot harder.. especially high rpm's.. . Originally posted by aleroboy

I also have an IAT sensor. I will take her to the track before I get any more mods.. and.. I would say the intake sounds better with an exhaust, I had just the intake on for a while, and it seems to whistle more after my SLP install.
