Well, after doing a bit of light wrenching at da Guru's house this weekend, my car threw it's first SES light (with the exception of the constant Lean Bank 1 MILs from when I had the SC)....we ran to AutoZone and had the codes read; they all pertained to the EVAP system. So when I got home I read up on what the EVAP system is for and how to possibly fix it.
Basically, the EVAP system (canister, vent valve, and purge solenoid) work to capture fuel vapors from the fuel tank until they can be used by the motor. A vacuum is required for the fuel vcapors to be sucked into the charcoal canister, so immediately I thought maybe my gas cap was loose. Nope. Okay, maybe the vent valve is stuck closed or the solenoid shorted out.
So off to the dealer I go. Turns out my headers burned right through the upstream O2 sensor harness. I'm a bit confused as to why an EVAP code was thrown, when it was an O2...although both are part of the emissions control system, so who knows....

So as a warning to anyone with headers.....check that any wiring harnesses are securely tied out of the way! I know it sounds simple, but it's one of those things that's easy to forget about.

one of my buddys did something similar on his grand prix, he couldnt figure out the problem for the life of him. I think hes been drivin with a SES for about 5 or 6 months now lol
