Has anyone tried painting their gutterguard grills. I am thinking about painting mine but need to know what kind of paint would be best. I have a white car and i have already order red reflective grafxwerks overlays so i am probably going to go with red if i paint them. If you have pics please post i would like to see what they look like painted. Thanks

It's real easy. Just get any paint you want and spray the grill. Let it dry and apply a clear coat. Without a clear coat your grill will get stains that don't wash off.

Just a personnal opinion here but I think painting gutter guard a color that contrasts with your body color looks really bad and, god forgive I use that word, ricey.

Basically IMHO for a nice gutter guard you have three options:
same color as your body (and I mean exact same paint code).
aluminum finish (the color it comes stock, painted and clear-coated)
or, in some cases, a dark color, like black or gunmetal, in matte finish.

If it jumps in my face as soon as I see the front of the car I don't like it. It's all in subtle beauty for me :)

yeah i thought about it for a while and decided to leave it aluminium. I think it would be just to much red. Thanks for the input

I have mine white, and it almost looks silver when you look at it. One thing though, bugs and the paint don't mix. Mines chipped off where bugs have splattered on it.

I would say use rustoleum paint if you're going to paint it. I didn't prime before I put the paint on, but I will be next time. Hopefully it lasts a little bit longer.

I had to paint mine silver because the bugs and dirt would leave dark stains on the grill. So I painted it and used a clear coat. Now everything washes off and haven't had any dark spots yet. I did notice that the clear coat darkens the aluminum a little.

I did mine in red and i think it looks fine. It is not like fire engine red, it is more of a dark red. Black on a black car, you just cannot see at all, i did it and did not like it.

If the gutter guard you use is galvanized you need to use amonia to remove the galvanized coating to get the paint to stick well... i didnt the first time and the paint chiped off quick, but this time i used amonia and the paint has held up very well... I also used rustolium(sp) high performance enamil.

Yes, rustoleum is what you want to use... Why? Because it is specifically formulated to be used on metal, though it is also great on wood and plastics alike. The key to a successful paint job is to prep it correctly and to take your time...

i got the aluminum gutter guard for mine but it does suck cause i have a silver gt and it blends in a bit too much, but i agree being subtle is better than ricey, i see way to many little kids here in beaumont with stupid ideas, i guess its a combination of paint chips and fast and the furious propaganda...oh well my 2 cents....climbing off of soap box now.

You wouldn't really be able to see the gutterguard in the first place if that was the case. The car is black, the crap underneath the car is black, and it's a shady area on top of that.
