Well guys, I tinted my front 2 door windows on my 02 GAGT coupe the other day. I had them tinted back in July of last year, however I had the back 3 windows LIMO, and the front 2 door windows DARK (step below Limo) It took about 4 months, then I finally got pulled over and got a written warning for having those tinted and not having a front plate. So, I stripped them (not to mention it was hard to see out at night). Well, the other day, I had to get a back window retinted because it was starting to peel up. I decided I would give this another go around. This time though, I talked to the guy and I went with the LIGHTEST shade. It's madico's light film. It's really not dark. You can see through the window and out the other window and see wahts on that side. YOu can also see the driver in the car night and day, and you can use ur mirrors at night. He said that he has NEVER had someone come back to get these stripped for getting harassed. I'm just hoping that I'm not gonna be the first. My car is black, and the back 3 are limo, so it kinda looks tinted, but I'm almost positive it looked like that before I had the light tint put on because the back 3 windows are blocking out a lot of light and my interior is the pewter color. Anyways, have you guys ever had a problem??? It's the lightest shade of tint you can go in the front.

Thanks,
Jeff

probably the same tint i have on my front... 50% is the darkest legal for front in LA. the back you can go as dark as you want. i went with madico 20% back there.

I think it's NO tint hahaha... Yeah, I'm a rebel, i'm sure I'm gonna get nailed, but oh well.. I mainly got it to keep some of the sun/heat out of the car.... I really don't see why it would be a problem where they can totally see into my car.... But who knows, I guess if I run into an ego raged a$$hole cop, I'm screwed! Anyone here from IL and know the law regarding tint??

Why would the cop be the bad guy if you are the one breaking the law ???

Sorry but if you are knowingly violating it, you can't complain if you get busted.. simple as that.

Tint laws have been posted here before, either search, or they are posted on www.sema.org I think.

that's like complaining about getting pulled over doing 70 in a 30 mph construction zone

Yeah, I guess thats true. I know it's illegal and if I get pinched, I get pinched. I'll strip them.. Not a big deal....It's among the many things illegal on my car though. It goes along with my NO front plate, and my vinyl overlays on the outside of the headlight (orange turn signal). Ah well, sometimes in life, you just gotta take risks! I think the main concern around here is that they CAN see you... And you can see in it night and day, and you can see me in the car off of my side mirror when you're behind me. We'll see what happens!

Just wonderin if you guys knew the laws, but I found it on Sema thanks Seth, and yes, I'm like one of the ONLY states that doesn't allow ANY percentage on the sides... ah well.....

WHat doy ou mean allow any percentage on the sides? In Illinois you can have your back three windows tinted to whatever you want. You just can't have the front three tinted.
