So, Eclipse 55040 - a great deck that I always loved. An Xtant 3300i 3-channel amp for the juice, IMHO the best amp that company ever produced. MB Quart PSC216 seps in front (holy crap did I ever get a deal on those) and Quart DKC 4x6" coax for rear fill. A SoundStream SPL Mule rounds out the system with bass, designed for SPL, it's a little known fact that it's one of the best SQ woofers ever when mounted freeair.

I purchased it all on e-bay with some careful buying over a few weeks, less than $900 for all that, and the only parts that aren't brand new are the deck and the sub!! And now it's all sitting in my living room, with nowhere to go, because I still don't have the SCX running!!!

Right so to basically sum up the thread you are bragging about some great gear that you got cheap on ebay but they aren't installed yet but they will be in a **** ROCKET not a grandamgt as the name of the site might suggest. So anyway back on track, I think the system is great up untill the sub. Isn't that going to be a little to big a sub for that amp. Xtant has some of the best sound quality I have ever heard but the sub sides are not all that powerful. I hope it all works sinse you bought it off the net and can't return it though. Good luck, Lee

Thanx! The sub output on the 3300 is able to hit 500 watt peaks pretty easily into 2 ohms. I'll be running it at 4, but I'm going for straight SQ here, and driving a freeair sub setup. Thus, the high damping factor of the class A/B sub section at 4 ohms is a serious advantage over a couple hundred extra watts, which would just over excurt the sub anyway in my install. Good lookin' out, though! ;)

I'm not sure if the ones I listened to the other day were the "new" ones but i thought they sucked. The tweeter protection was a little to sensitve, no real mid bass, and just over all bad sound quality. JMO though. Peace, lee

It depends on the system, which Diamonds are in question. Just out of curiosity - why ask that in this thread? :confused: It'd get more attention elsewhere, or as a new thread....

The M5 components sound very good for the money. The Hex series is a little to "up front" or "forward" for my taste - similar to the boston Pro.5 components IMO. Not a bad thing, merely a matter of taste.

Just for the sake of remaining on topic....

I have had to sell almost my entire system to fix the stupid car. Turns out the head was cracked. The good news is, since I'm tearing it all apart anyway, I'm building it up again as a BEAST of an N/A quad 4 - if all goes as planned, I should have the baddest street-legal N/A Quad 4 around. I still have the PSC's - I'm not sellin' them 'cuz I'd never find the same deal again - but everything else is gone. :(
