Im gonna be replacing my plugs and wires this weekend.
I'm lookin for suggestions on what wires to buy,
I want something other than black. Is there any out there that are maybe red? I think red would look good
Also ... has anyone out there changed their own plugs/wires?
i have 99GT
thankz;

Wire changes are relatively simple but somewhat time consuming due to reaching around the engine. Might as well change your plugs while you're at it.
For wires, go to Autozone and get some red 8mm wire in the house brand. They're just as good as the more expensive big name wires for half the price. Don't expect a power gain from any wire change unless your wires are trash.

my wires are trash. they have never been changed on the car, and i assume the plugs are the same. Is it really difficult to reach the plugs?? like should i buy the plugs and wires i want and pay my mechanic to do the work??

Changing the plugs on the back side can be a pain. The fronts are easy to do. If you have patients then I would change them urself and if you don't think you do I would have someone else do em for you. THe wires I have are Taylor wires, i have not had any problems with them but I have heard some other have and then have changed over to MSD. I would recomend if ur gonna change the wires change the plugs too..

I got red Taylor wires, although as said before, it really doesn't help any performance. As for changing the plugs, I swapped mine out (at the same time as the wires) for NGK iridium plugs. I did the front and back plugs with just a ratchet, 4 inch extension, and a spark plug socket. The rears are hard to get to, but you just have to feel your way around and you can get them in and out with little problem. The hardest part was getting the originals out on the back because theres nowhere to get any leverage on the ratchet. You can only move it an inch or two at a time in some places. It only took me about 45 minutes to take out the old and in with the new.

Like they said. Its pretty straight forward, just time consuming due to the small area you have to work in for the back 3. The plug wires can be a bugger to get off the plugs on the backside. I wouldn't pay a mechanic to do it. Just take your time and do 1 at a time.
When you get plugs, don't worry about the plugs with the fancy designed electrodes. Just get single electrode plugs in plat, or iridium if you want to spend extra cash. Again no performance benefit, just a longer life plug.
