Service Engine Light

Service Engine light...
blah i cant believe it, a buddy of mine had his cougars service engine light come on and i was laughing about it, that night on the way home from work mine pops on! Now the car idles rough, and has a miss when i step on the gas from a stop. I think its the injectors so i poored some STP injector cleaner in a tank of gas, it stoped the problem for about 2 hours and the light went off, but now its back!! Any idea wut i could be dealing with here? I checked the air filter and its new the spark plugs are in decent shape....im at a stand still here. I know that with my old cavi i was able to use paper clips to trip up the computer and have the service light blink a certain amount of times and i would check that with a book i had and it would tell me the problem. I cant even find where this is located on the GA !?!?(the computer i mean)

so my questions:
Anyone had this similar problems? What did you do?
How can i access this computer to reset the light or have it tell me the problem?

In short, go get the code read.. that's the whole point of the light coming on. The car detected a specific problem, and is telling you about it.
