Valve cover gasket

Hey i am going to take off my valve cover to polish it. will i have to buy a new gasket when i pull it off? When i took the upper intake off to polish it and install the APOC ported one i didn't need to replace the gasket, i just wanted to know if tis would be any different.

Being that it's a '99, I would suggest replacing it. Usually they get briddle, and it'll break or have small cracks in it, making it seal incorrectly. Just get a new one on ebay or www.gmpartsdirect.com , not all that expensive.

From what i have seen they just strech. they dont crack or anything they are a little undersized out of the box when you get it fitted in the Grove just seat it back on the head tighten it down to spec and silicone the 2 groves on the sides.

I've seen them break on LT1's and LS1's.....not on the LA1, but who knows.

Could be The 2 times I have had them off they have just streched a bit. To the Point where you cant use them again.
