would anything other than the panic button set it off? and if it did, would it stay on for a long time? cuz my battery died and i thought i heard an alarm that sounded like the factory GM one but disregarded it cuz i thought i heard somewhere that only the panic will set it off. thought maybe this was the cause.

As far as I know only the remote will set it off as the newer cars only use the passlock system to secure the saftey of the car its self from being stolen. Peace, Lee

Also I think, (you may need to test it out but I think) that it will go off if you lock it with the remote and someone, say, busts the window and unlocks it with the switch then I think it kills the starter or something till you unlock it with the remote. Im not sure about that but you can test it by rolling down the window, closing the door, lock it with the remote and then try to unlock it by reaching in the car and flipping the door lock switch.

Hmm I just tried it on my GT.... and it doesn't do anything either.
Well I guess its good to know my car has no theft-deterent whatsoever. :( I guess I was assuming it had that feature cause our 2001 Suburban does that. Oh well another thing to add to the list of purchases for my car (a decent alarm system).

Sunroof leak. That can cause any and all weird electrical problems. My neighbor's panic/horn used to go on and off everytime it rained.
