Factory stereo removal

I am ready to remove the factory Stereo/CD/Cassette system from my 2000 GT Sedan .... Can the cassette player be removed and if so do they make a backer board to cover the hole or does anyone have a suggestion on what could be mounted in its place?

Just pop off the plastic panel around the deck and there should be three 9/32 screws that need to come out, then pull out the wiring harness and antanna and there you have it. Now go down to your local shop and get your cd player, install kit, wiring harness, and antanna adaptor. If you ask nice I'm sure they will help you from there as to what wires to use and what parts of the install kit you need. These are examples of why you buy local. they help you with all the little things that the internet shops just wish you good luck. Peace out, Lee
