I had that theft deterrent thing set when I first got the car, by my lovely ex boyfriend. I didn't write the code down because I didn't think he and I would part ways. Well ways were parted over 2 years ago, and I recently lost all power in my ga because I got a new battery. Now, I can't remember the code, nor can I contact him about it becase he's in a different state and I haven't talked tohim in years, nor do I want to. So what do I do now??? I hate driving without a radio, it's so boring!! I'm going to stick to riding my motorcycle for now, I can't stand driving without my tunes!

Have you checked through the owners manual, sometimes dealers write it down in there. I could be wrong but I think you need to pull out the radio and write down the seriel number and then get your vin number and take it all down to the gm dealer and I think they can get the code for you. Have you tryed all 1's and 2's and so on. Another good one is 6969or 0069. Some people put in the obvious. Good luck, I hope this helps. Lee

Do a search. There was a way around it somehow but I don't have the instructions. I know it wasn't talked about too long ago. I am terrible with search and will probably not find it if I try but maybe someone will remember and link it up.

Wow. Call me quick. I actually found something I was searching for. Here you go. Don't know if it actually works but worth a shot. Better than paying a dealership $50 to do it.

Ok, so here's another question. I entered the wrong number 8 times, so it locked itself out. I left the car running for an hour and it reset and gave me 3 more tries. I used them up too, so if I leave the car running for an hour again (don't worry i'm usually driving to work/classes anyways, so it's not idiling for an hour) will it give me another 3 tries so I can try that unlock method?

My dealership that I just called wanted $45 to do it, and another dealer wanted $65!!!

PS. I noticed your avatar... Ride Red?? It looks like you ride a Honda...CBR or 929, 954??? I ride a gixxer... yep, one in 5 people probably own one. I'm on a 2002 600 for now, i'm hoping to move up to the RC51 soon though. I want to pay down my bike a little more and then sell it hopefully. It's got 10K miles on it though, so i'm not sure what I can get for it. My mom, rides a Harley 1200 sportster custom, but wants a sportbike as another play toy. She's only 5'2 though, so whatever she gets she'll have to lower. I told her i'd sell her my bike, and then lower it for her, because I have the links. She knows that the bike wasn't "beaten" on and whatnot. I ride just like what I am... a girl :boogie: I've been trying to get to wheelie, but i'm still at the pop-em-ups. I can only get the front end up a hair before I get scared and roll the throttle off. I'll leave the endos, burnouts, wheelies, and stuff to my b/f and his friends. I don't have the $ to fix my bike up when I wreck it ;)

Girls that ride sportbikes rock:thumbs:

It's an 03 CBR600 F4i. I dream one day to own an RC51. But doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

:boogie: Thanks!! :boogie:

I get a ton of compliments for riding, especially riding a brand new "bigger" bike. Most girls ride the Ninja 250's, and the older CBR's (F3's and F2's), and older bikes. I started on a new Ninja 250, but realized after 6 months that it was just too small. The gixxer 600 is fine for me right now, but if I ever get the chance i'd like to get the RC. It's such a different ride than an I-4. Everytime I see one I think there's a little drool coming out of my mouth. My friend, he has one, it's a 2001. He has full carbon fiber fairings on the bike, and a full set of akrapovic pipes too. The bike is to dream of... he's offered me to ride it, but with all that carbon fiber, i'm too afraid. He only has limited insurance, so any damage to it would come out of my pocket.

 on your good taste though! I love the RC51, the rumble of the v-twin... mmmmm. The first mod to my RC (if I ever get one) will be a set of full akra pipes. They sound so awesome on that bike, it makes the rumble of that engine sound so great.

Well, back to the subject. I tried that radio thing, and when I do step one.. where I push the 2 and 3 buttons at the same time, nothing happens. Now I wonder if this is because my radio is iNop? Because I have locked myself out because i've used the 11 tries they give you? I'll try to leave the car run for an hour to reset the numbers again and see. Anyone else have any ideas? Or tried the quick fix that was given above??

Thanks for all your help though... ride safe

from the my '99 owner's manual

"...If you enter the wrong the code eight times, INOP will appear on the display.
You will have to wait an hour with the ignition ON before you can try again.
When you try again, you will have only 3 more chances (eight tries per chance) to enter the correct code before INOP appears..."

...To get it back to "loc" so you can get the code and call the 1-800 number, you can just turn the key to "Acc" Mode for 1hr...

then check out Gimli's post in thread: Theft-lock came on today! (http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10755&highlight=radio+loc)

Ok, so I couldn't log in from my computer for a while to post back.

Talking like that about bikes and cars and stuff comes pretty naturally to me I guess. I've been brought up around restoring old cars, particularly corvettes, and bikes and engines and stuff. I'm not your typical girl, well my interests aren't at least. The thing that I must make a point of is that I still love to have my nails done, go shopping, wear platform heels and short skirts. I'm not a tomboy or anything, I wear makeup and always do my hair (which isn't hard because it's naturally curly). But i'm into bikes and cars and all kinds of your typical "guy" stuff. I enjoy going to the garage to watch my b/f work on his 71' Dodge Dart or one of his 5 motorcycles.

I'm the same way with sports too, my idea of a perfect Sunday in the fall is sitting on the couch in a pair of sweats and a tank top watching the football games on tv. There's something about having leaves falling from the trees and the smell of fall, and watching some pigskin on tv. It's even better if I get to go out for an early morning ride or something then get to come home, and exchange the jeans, boots, and helmet for my sweats. Then the football is all the more enjoyable because i'm not thinking about riding.

Back to the subject. I tried that thing with my car, I got it functioning again from the iNop. So I did the first few steps and then it came time to call GM. I did, and went to enter the dealer number and it came up as an invalid code. So WTF? I get that far, and now realize that I am probably just going to have to pay to have it restored. I really don't want to, because i got half way, but it looks like i'm going to have to

Well, it's nice talking to you! Hopefully we'll get to chat again

Holy $h!T. Where were you when I was single?

You are my type of woman. Too bad you have a B/F, I have a wife, and we are about as far away from each other as possible in the states. Seattle to the East Coast.

Anyway my wife doesn't have the likings as you but likes it enough to put up with cars, bikes, fishing, sports.

ONCE AGAIN OFF TOPIC!!!!!

I would post up on here for a dealership number. Someone on here has to work for a dealership or have dealership connections to get you that number. As much as you are turning me on with your choice of words again I might have to get the number for you.

OOOPS, ONCE AGAIN OFF TOPIC!!!! But seriously. Start a post about a dealer number or whatever it asked for. Like I said I have never used these steps but knew they were available.

Man I feel like a internet stalker. I never, never, never chat and never seem to figure out the chat scene and how you would get to know someone who is impossible to see and only know there words. Never knowing if the pics you see are real, if the woman or man you are talking too is really a 300lber with a good sense of humor and awesome morals. But wow there is always a first. As a friend of course.

You can't tell me this chick isn't bad ass! She has mentioned everything I dig except fishing. I am sure she loves that too. But as stated above. HAPPILY MARRIED!!

Thats awesome that you're happily married. I give you   for being such a great hubby to your wife. I'm sure she's a wonderful, beautiful woman.

I'm also madly in love with my b/f, hopefully soon to be fiance'. i've never done the internet thing either, and i'm not sure I have the guts to meet someone in person that I know nothing about ;) You never know what type of people are out there. PS... I'm not really into fishing... I usually get bored out on the boat, and I am totally impatient.

Well anyways, i'd like to thank you for all your help. I got a dealership number and I now have a functioning stereo. It's like when it finally became unlocked, I think I sat there for a second just listening to the tunes come out of the speakers. Nothing sounds so beautiful... ok, maybe the sound of my bike revving at low 2's and 3's, but other than that... (I have a yoshi pipe on my bike... thanks to my b/f  )

So it was nice chatting with ya, and best of wishes to you and your wife. I'm sure i'll keep lurking... something else is bound to go wrong again with this GA. I've had nothing but issues with my poor car, I love the thing, but it's got some really bad karma.

Welcome to the Grand Am world. Out of all my warranties I have ever bought. THis is the first I have actually used to it's full price. Don't know if that is good or bad? Good because I used the money I put into it or bad because the car has problems.

I too hope to have all my GA problems figured out. The car is better than ever right now. "Fingers Crossed"

I know with my car... The Honda dealer can look up my VIN and look up the code. When I got the car I got a card that has the code. It cannot be change. Which I think it's a good thing since that way the dealer always has it. They don't charge since I can get it over the phone.
