The AC Schnitzer ACS5

The Aachen Interpretation of the New BMW 5-series
Even in standard form, the new 5-series is an attractive car - and AC Schnitzer is now developing a complete range of tuning products for the latest BMW saloon which extends its sporting talents without neglecting the comfort of a business vehicle.

These will include a power upgrade for the BMW 530d: With the AC Schnitzer diesel performance upgrade, the 5-series gets an extra 37 HP (27 kW), which increases the maximum torque of 50 Nm and the maximum speed to 252 km/h. Acceleration from 0 - 100 km/h takes just 6.9 seconds. Despite the increased power of the AC Schnitzer ACS5 3.0d, the excellent driving performance, moderate fuel consumption and superb durability naturally remain unchanged.

The scope of supply of the performance upgrade includes not only the additional control module but also a sports rear silencer of V2A special steel with chromed tailpipe trim in racing design.

Even without the performance upgrade, we recommend fitting the AC Schnitzer sports rear silencer as this greatly improves gas flow. For a purely aesthetic conversion, we are currently developing a tailpipe trim.

The AC Schnitzer suspension solutions which have been thoroughly tested in an extensive programme - including the North Loop of the Nürburgring - have been specially matched to the use of low profile performance tyres. As well as lowering the car by around 30 millimetres, the AC Schnitzer sports suspension ensures more sporting handling in combination with excellent driving comfort. Logical extensions are the antiroll bars and a racing aluminium strut brace, which stabilises the front end particularly in fast cornering and braking manoeuvres.

The sporting driving performance and agile handling will shortly be accompanied by exciting bodystyling. The AC Schnitzer front spoiler with integral front grille gives the 5-series a more striking outfit and at the same time improves downforce on the front axle. The air ducts integrated into the front spoiler provide optimum cooling for the front brakes.

AC Schnitzer further refines the BMW 5-series with aerodynamically formed sports mirrors which have electric adjustment and heating. The side aspect becomes more elongated with the new side skirts. To give aerodynamic balance at the rear, there is a rear roof spoiler, a rear spoiler and the excitingly designed rear skirt. This not only integrates the silencer harmoniously but gives the new 5-series a more powerful appearance with the braced underfloor wing.

Depending on personal taste, the customer for aerodynamic components can choose whether he wants the additional and exclusive Chromeline set. The subtle positioning of chrome elements sets new accents for the front spoiler, side skirts and rear skirt.

The sporting outfit naturally also includes the AC Schnitzer alloy wheels. The BMW 5-series owner has the enviable dilemma of choice: between the one-piece or multipiece variants of the totally new AC Schnitzer Type IV alloys which will celebrate their world premiere at the IAA 2003. The filigree rims in the new 5-spoke design are an excellent aesthetic match for the avant-garde styling of the new 5-series. Naturally their technical standards live up to their appearance: the new Type IV alloys were developed using highest quality materials and ultra-modern production techniques.

Or the customer can choose one of the successful wheel designs Type II or Type III, which are also available in sizes from 8.5J x 18" to 9.5J x 19". The highlight in the wheels sector for the 5?series will be the new Type IV Racing Rims, which in size 9.0J x 20" at the front and 10.0J x 20" at the rear allow the use of tyre sizes 255/30 R 20 (front) and 295/25 R20 (rear). For tyres we recommend Continental and Michelin.

The ****pit of the BMW 5-series can also be enhanced with chic but practical accessories - e.g. the ergonomically designed airbag sports steering wheel in leather or with carbon trim. A carbon-fibre interior kit in silver for the dashboard and door trims will also shortly be available. The new development of an aluminium cover for the controller of the BMW "i-Drive system" gives the proverbial finishing touch in an appropriate manner.

Last but not least, aluminium foot rests and pedals, gearknobs or automatic selector lever and finally, velours foot mats in the AC Schnitzer design set the decisive tone for the entire interior.

Finally, AC Schnitzer offers tailor-made solutions in the field of traffic telematics which can be integrated optimally.

Naturally all components are TÜV-tested and available from your BMW dealer.
