Hey guys, I did a search, and there were only a few topics pertaining to this.
I have a silver 2001 SE. I just got the car back on the road after a LONG while, and have been checking the car over for problems. Apparently, there is a problem with the paint. I took it to someone I know who is a pro at auto paint, and he said it was "delaminating".(and according to the other posts I found, this appears to be an issue with the silver ga's)
I am having the problem on the roof piece, which as we all know is quite large, and also both passenger doors, and the rear driver's side door. There are other spots where the problem seems to be starting.
Here's the problem. My car has the *** rockers and wing, and the GT front and rear. Also, a couple years ago my car was keyed, albiet not that bad, and they sanded down that ONE AREA and painted/blended it in. But the car was NOT touched in the spots that are delaminating.
What are the chances that GM will still warranty the paint job in the affected areas, given that I have changed my fascias, and have added aftermarket body parts, AND have had a portion of the car painted before.
I'm just afraid they'll see the car and everything i've done to it, and tell me forget it. I'm also afraid that since I had minor painting done in one spot on the car, that they won't believe it was just that one spot, and i'll have a hard time convinving them that it's THEIR paint that's the issue.
I know others here have had the paint problem, what advice can you give me, and what was the outcome?
