Hey guys, I did a search, and there were only a few topics pertaining to this.

I have a silver 2001 SE. I just got the car back on the road after a LONG while, and have been checking the car over for problems. Apparently, there is a problem with the paint. I took it to someone I know who is a pro at auto paint, and he said it was "delaminating".(and according to the other posts I found, this appears to be an issue with the silver ga's)

I am having the problem on the roof piece, which as we all know is quite large, and also both passenger doors, and the rear driver's side door. There are other spots where the problem seems to be starting.

Here's the problem. My car has the *** rockers and wing, and the GT front and rear. Also, a couple years ago my car was keyed, albiet not that bad, and they sanded down that ONE AREA and painted/blended it in. But the car was NOT touched in the spots that are delaminating.

What are the chances that GM will still warranty the paint job in the affected areas, given that I have changed my fascias, and have added aftermarket body parts, AND have had a portion of the car painted before.

I'm just afraid they'll see the car and everything i've done to it, and tell me forget it. I'm also afraid that since I had minor painting done in one spot on the car, that they won't believe it was just that one spot, and i'll have a hard time convinving them that it's THEIR paint that's the issue.

I know others here have had the paint problem, what advice can you give me, and what was the outcome?

this has been an on going issue with alot of GM cars..........I wouldn't count on GM paying for anything to do with your paint........they refuse to face the fact that there's a problem

After reading what you said, I got a little upset. I can't believe gm would do this. More and more, stuff like this is driving me to never even consider a GM pruduct again. Anyway, a quick search and I found this:

What do you think? Can this help me?

Well, now. Luckily I have a gm dealer less than 5 minutes from my house.:D
Anyway, they don't even want to know anything about it. So I called 1-800-pm-cares
They say there's nothing they can do. It's not covered.
Well then, that's funny considering the link I posted earlier. If any of you want to look, do a search on "delamination pontiac" in google. Apparently they've been sued over this before, and lost.

I find it severely disappointing that gm would intentionally sell a car with problems such as paint, brakes, etc....and refuse to fix it.

If I don't get a satisfactory solution soon, i'm going to court. Sorry if it sounds drastic, but i'm absolutely sick of the problems of dealing with this car. I love my GA, but it's been a nightmare.

Tell me about it . I have been nothing but screwed blued and tatooed from the dealers .. they are nothing but rapests. when i first got my new/ used 200o gt within one weak i noticed a shimmy .. i took it to them . to have the ballance and alignment checked out i had them check it twice. cause they found nothing . probably didnt even look at it the bastards . lol . then conveinantly. they found a scew in one of my tires . I must have really ****ed them off . cause i dont think that screw was there . 23 bucks for a plug for it to go flat after a month. then i replaced all the tires with good's. last tiem i ever go the dealer for anything now i do it all myself whatever i can .. My thoughts exactly. It's problems like these that make me second guess ever buying my car in the first place. This is my third Pontiac, and my second Grand Am. (first pontiac was a firebird. yum:D )
I've also owned other American cars, but have only owned one foreign car ever. My gf does have an 89 civiv though. And let me tell you. My 89 Mercury Topaz with 149,000, 84 VW with 210,000 that I bought for 200 bucks, and my gf's 89 Civic with 179,000 all had less problems than any gm vehicle i've ever owned.
