Those of you who got the sct bodykit. How much did you pay to have it installed and painted. Also are there any fitting issues or does it match up well? Thanks

From what ive read it fits like a glove, better than any other kit out there. Body work is to a nil. Not sure on paint cost, will vary from person to person. Someone else can answer that.
Oh yeah after you get it painted make sure you use dawn soap and 500 grit sandpaper to get those swirl marks out. :)

Fits like a glove on Rob's when I helped put it on.. install takes maybe 30 mins in the drive way, his 2-toned paint was ~550ish with a lifetime guarantee on the paint job IIRC

cost for me was $440 to get it painted. install was done by me and a friend. that was terrible. there is a huge gap in the rear fascia near the drivers side exhaust. something is def wrong with this kit, but i was stupid and already painted it before i fitted it. so i'm stuck with it, maybe one day i'll just go get it molded in. money permitting.

500 GRIT!!!!????
The rocker panels need to be pushed up very hard and secured in order for the black "pinstripe" molding to align.

And please don't use 500 Grit Schweppe, I think that was a joke above.
You want something near 2000., but you'll need a buffer afterwards as well probably.

Schweppe asked in a seperate thread yesterday that he heard that using 500 grit and dawn soap gets out swirl marks, so its a big joke now.
Wouldn't 2000 grit be like your Charmin? Maybe you should just use that.
But for you, you should use 60 grit i heard it gets ALL swirl marks out. J/K ;)

500 grit is still very rough for a painted surface. 1500-2000 is smooth, yet enough to get out imperfections in paint, plus you have to wet the sandpaper.
There was a VW Passat guy on their forum that put 400 grit (i think) to his car after a guy jokingly said to do it...needless to say he needed a new paint job on his brand new ride.

...eric... irategt had that problem... he drilled a screw into the kit and bumper to hold it up... shouldn't have to, but it fixes the sag...

you mean in the wheel well......both front and rear to hold it up higher?
EDIT: nevermind...I though you were talking about the sides...:o

hey badass i did that, it still didn't fix the problem. it just helped it. maybe if i put a screw in near the reverse light, it would fix it. but i don't want no screw messin up the nice shiny silver.

I put a screw throught the rear valence just above the driver's side exhaust tip. Fixed the problem. So long as everything else is alligned, the rear fits great.
I'll agree w/ whoever stated that the sides have to be pushed up and secured firmly to the rockers. That's important for a good fit.
Any tips on exactly how to do it? Its probably harder on a coupe as well.... :-/

When we installed tims/tjx we just used 3 or 4 people and pushed up as hard as possible. Then adheared it with the 3m tape. It worked well. The fit was very close. Oh he had a coupe as well

The cheapest quote I received in Wisconsin was 780 to paint it, and another 800 to install it. Therfore, I didnt order it, just the SCT chin spoiler.

[edit] I realized its in Candinadian, can you do a quick conversion... but even that aside... the fact that he would charge more to install then paint is a joke.

Wow, my suggestion is to try other places around madison, if you drive to waukesha, i'm sure you could get it done a lot cheaper talk to red98gagt or whatever, he was the one that planned the meet that i saw you at, i had the blue 95, anyway, he goes to a college called wctc and he might be able to get the shop at the school to hook you up with paint, theyhave a paint booth as i recall.

That was the CHEAPEST one! Some places, including some dealership body shops, refused completely to paint and install the thing. Is it soooooooooooooo expensive because I have the fusion orange paint? I have the chin spoiler in the box- not sure where I am going to have it painted. I like the rest of the kit, but its not worth that much coin to have it painted and installed.

Why don't you just get it painted and then have a modification day at your house or somethin and i'm sure that we would all be able to help you out with putin it on.

Yes, there is absolutely no need to have a shop install it.

Hmm Thats a good idea- never thought of doing that. I will have to inquire about painting costs. I am in no way whatsoever mechanically inclined at all!
