Is there any way to tell what service a car has had done to it? What I mean, is there any way of telling what a dealership, or dealerships have put in the file for a particular car? I am asking because I took my car in for an oil change yesterday, and I heard the techs talking about having some comments added to a file, regarding springs and headlamps, which I have in my car. I am not sure if they were talking about my car, or a diff car, and am curious. I would have asked them, but didnt have time to argue with them. thanks

You should be able to ask your service dept. to see your vehicle history. It's the only place where you'll have the full GM story.

most dealerships won't give out that info. it'd be interesting to see if your warrenty was blocked or partially blocked due to modified parts tho.

I wouldnt think that adding different springs and HID headlamps that burn cooler than stock halogens would do cause any confusion with the warranty, but I heard the techs talking, so, I am not sure. I thought bout calling them, acting like an interested buyer and see what they would say. Prolly wont work though....

they were most likely talking about your car... and they probably want to add notes b/c in case something goes wrong in either of those two areas, they are gonna blame it on your aftermarket parts... i was fortunate that my dealer never gave me trouble for any of my aftermarket equipment while my car was under warranty...

Well, I am glad that I will only use that dealership once! It was convenient for an oil change, when I was in the area. Hopefully, the info from their computer wont link into other dealership computers.

I don't take my vehicle to GM Dealerships for oil changes and routine maintance. I go to my local used car dealership hey I bought three used vehicles from them before but I have been going to same mechanic since 1999 and I get even greater service with my vehicle their then my bad experiences with GM dealerships.

Yes it does, that's how one dealership can know all that's been done to your car at any GM dealership.

Even though the dealership is not under the same owner?

Yes, it's all stored in the same database at GM.

Oh well. I dont think that the dealership that I take my car to will refuse service because they know that I will take action if my car probs are not handled properly. (I had a 2000 se1 that was a lemon law car- they didnt believe that I would file lemon law on it cause they didnt fix it. they were WRONG. lol). Hopefully they dont notice some of the other little mods that are going to appear.
