Meh, probably wont happen. There was times where you need to step on the gas to avoid accidents and such. They also say in that article that it is possible to orverride the system if the driver wants to so It will still be possible to speed.

Speeders are a cash cow for law enforcement, they will never go away. If the governement wanted to stop speeders, they could have mandated top speeds on cars long ago. I dont think it would improve safety on the roads, and the law enforcement unions simply wont allow it to happen.

yeah...I almost guarentee that they will never pass that...i got to thinking what happens if someone is being chased by some crazy lunatic and the car will not let her go over the Speedlimit...that would go over well! :D

It's not gonna happen here, but it is very possible in England. They do some crazy stuff there. They have cameras mounted everywhere to monitor everything in london, and I know there is like an $8 fee to enter the city now using your own car, unless you already live in the city, all in effort to minimize traffic and pollution in the city. I could see them implementing something like this is London and it's surrounding highways, if auto companies are willing to comply.

This will NEVER happen in the United States of America.
If such a thing even came near to pass or anything like it, there would be another civil war because it would then no longer be "the land of the free".
