I was looking inside the intake hose today and noticed the MAF screen is damaged. How can this happen? I never ran without an air filter.

Just pop it out and don't worry about it.

On the contrary, I'd advise against removing it.
What do you mean damaged? Is it smashed in?

Yes, some part of it is smashed in.

Well, you can either remove it and run it, or buy a new one....If you buy an aftermarket one it'll not have a sceen. The chances are if you've had the system open you hit it w/out realizing. If something big enough to dent it was in the system, it would still be there.
Mine has been off for 9 months w/out a prob.
