Everybody keeps talking about buying a Civic CAI. I think it would be better to make my own set up still using the ram air. Has anybody made a different setup that uses ram air.

Many people have modified their ram air setup, including myself. Once I put on the CAI, I never looked back. I started with the civic CAI, but now I have the setup from Doctor Speed (http://www.doctorspeed.com/products/cai/).
The Ram Air does have advantages, easier to access the filter, etc.
If you're looking for more power, I'd recommend you go with a CAI setup.

Yeah the CAI is DEFINATELY much nicer than stock ram air setup.....you can't go wrong with a fenderwell CAI on our cars.
there are SOOOOO many threads on this. There is actually a REALLY detailed thread comparing the pros and cons of both Ram Air and CAI/WAI. i can't find it/too lazy to look. it's about 7 pages long and has really good debates. an engineer actually gave input and stuff. if anyone knows what thread i'm talking about, be sure to post it. it should actually be stickied. anyway...my personal opinion is go for the CAI. i plan on getting a Dr. Speed stage 3 sometime next year. but until then...let this cold weather help me as much as possible :)
