well..... i dont THINK i am an idiot but i may be. my system was making my headlights dim, finally i went out and bought a 1farad cap. now is there a certain way to hook this up? the instructions said that where my power wire split, take one to the amp and one to the cap, i did that. then it said to create a seperate ground from the amp for the cap, so i did that. it didnt SAY anything about a remote wire from the cap to the amp but it is pictured in a diagram. only problem is that i dont seen jack **** for a remote terminal on the cap. the pos and neg terminals are as plain as day. i hooked them up with no remote, and i still got bad dimming. just as bad as before. what am i missing?:stupid:

if it is a digital cap then you will need a remote wire if it isn't then you don't need one. as far a the cap did you charge the cap after you hooked it up. that might be something you need to do.

Blown GT was right on. No display, No remote wire. And did you charge it? What brand is it? How big is your alt? How old is your battery and what kind is it? How big is your amp? What size wire did you run to the amp and did you run it to the battery? Peace, Lee

it is digital, you dont understand there IS NO PLACE for a remote wire. it was charged before i used it. 4gage wire split to 2 8 gauge wires (one to amp one to cap), stock alternator, optima red top, i dont think any of that is really relivant though. here are a couple pics of the object in question, you will see there is no place for a remote wire.

here is a pic from the reverse side although it is kind of hard to tell.

digital authority, btw i did charge it before i used it. really the only thing i am confused about is this damn remote wire that has no terminal on the cap. i have been to the site, i have read the ENTIRE instruction manual at least 3 times.

If I were you them I would call them. if your lights a still dimming then it is another problem with your electrical system. all the remote wire does is just turn on the digital dis. nothing with the cap it's self. also another thing you could try is take the 4 guage running back and go straight to the cap and then on the same + terminal run 4 guage to your amp or even 8 guage. I don't know if the dis. block is keeping it from doing it's job or not just never seen one hooked up that way.

I wouldn't worry about the remote wire thing either. Does the display work? The manual is probably the same for all the caps weather they have need a remote wire or not. Peace, Lee

its cause mobile authority makes it. doesnt have one. and pretty much no cap works for ****. the people who say they do make a difference they just think that it does.(unless they are running something like 10 farads-but in that case why not buy a better alternator?)

I was going to post something along those lines but I wasn't sure what anyone would think. I have heard that some companies basically give you a can of sand with a fancy top. It works off of mind over matter. Peace, Lee

the cap wont do much for your headlights dimming, better solution is an optima red top battery. My subs and amp were pulling the volts down to around 10 with them turned up, with the cap it made no noticeable difference. with the optima battery it only goes down to about 12 volts now. a cap is more of a quick energy source for when the subs hit, it does not contain enough power to make up for the cars electrical system.
