That's awsome! I heard it is the same kit as on the Grand Am

mr_eh
10-10-2003, 03:15 PM

mr_eh

yeah its the hot wheels front rear sides back and.. a new looking wing that from the angle sorta looks like the razzi wing for the cavalier, im pretty happy with how it looks and im a picky mother f*

now if they price it under 800$ i'll be happier :)

I just got off of the phone with Cyrus over at RK. He said they are pre selling them right now and that a four door kit is being made also to be out about 2 months after the 2 door.

:stupid: Impact bar showing has to be modified but that's something that can be done after purchase by the owner too :)

Hot kit, nice to see new options. The front is definitely a winner. Althought I do prefer the smaller GT front openings over the larger ones..

edit.. hotlinked the pics

i know this is probably the ghetto way out but couldnt you just paint it flat black. Flat so the light doesnt hit it and shine back.

How would you modify the impact bar? cut part of it out? Just curious

No.. if I had that I would probably close up those two rectangles in some way

i'm not sure if i like it or not. the front is ok.....the back end, YUCK....it almost looks like they tried to make it a grand prix.....and if i would have wanted that i would have bought the car. i'll have to think about this one. but just a thought for all you who do want it. my husband is an RK dealer! let us know!

something diffiently needs to be altered with the rear end, especialy that huge license plate spot, change that up and i'll be in for a 4 dr kit

love the side skirts and rear, the front I think it needs to have like another underlip or something so it can make the car look lower.

Just off the phone with RK Sport. To answer some of the questions posed on earlier posts.

The whole kit is not finished yet. They are still tweaking the "look" of some of the parts.

What you currently see on my car is virtualy foam and clay. That is not even close to the finished product.

They are pre selling the kits only up until the molds are finished.
The pre sell price is $700. It will retail for $1000. The four door is to be a little higher. Anyone with a four door that lives in the So-Cal area is encouraged to call if you can leave your car with them for 3 weeks to have the skirts for it done. If interested give them a call. 800-214-8030.

I will post more picts as they allow me to take them.

My car is currently in the shop for about 4 weeks getting a different set of sideskirts done. However, I would be more than interested in helping you guys out with a 4-door test fit car if need be. Just keep me updated if no one steps up by then!

Yeah I am suprised at how much I like that spoiler. It'd be real nice if it can somehow fit into both stock holes...the way it is looks like it may be in the rear holes only.

Racecrafter
10-14-2003, 01:54 PM
To get more answers on the kit you should really call RK Sport.

I can tell you this though. The spoiler on the deck covers all the factory holes.

ALL of the pieces on this car are HAND MADE. Complete magic by their body sculpter. There is no mold of any kind yet. That is what their "Pre-sale" is all about. When the molds get finished no more pre sale price.

And from what I understand, the hood and spoiler will be done and ready by December.

I will try to get down to RK Sport in the next week or so for updated pics. The car is going to SEMA in a couple of weeks so it will be done before then.

This is the new Grand Am kit that we are working on. I should be done
by
the end of the year. The new ram air hood and wing will be done before
the kit. We are taking pre orders for the kit at $695, that is pricing
as of now for both kits. When we have the kits in stock the price will
rise to about $1000. The new euro tail lights we are expecting in by
the
end of the month. The colors we are receive will be the chrome and the
black. We can special order C/F, but I do not have a time frame on how
long it would be to receive them.

It comes with the front and rear bumper covers, both side shirts, and
matching door panels... They have not set a date for the end of the
pre-sale.

I urge all of you who want this to pre order it.
I know I am probally at the end of this month

earlier I asked this question to Chad:

Do you guys need the pre orders to get this kit into
production or is it going to go it to production no
matter what?

Also is the hood going to look like the hood off of
the hotwheels concept or is it going to be something
else.

He replied saying this:

No the new kit is already scheduled for full production. The pre-order
is a way for you to be guaranteed a kit, within the first few runs. The
longer you wait, with the pre order, the long you will have to wait for
the kit. Also you are able to take advantage of the pre-order price. As
for the hood, what I have been told is that it will resemble the stock
ram air hood, more then the hot wheels hood. Give me a call if you are
interested in the per order.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I tried to get pic's of the car today but it has been all torn down to start the mold process and my car is off to the paint shop with the pre-production parts for the SEMA show.

I will try to get pictures put up of the finished car before it goes. Baer has stepped up with brakes and Ronal is supplying the wheels.

The molds will be started ,according to them, right after SEMA. And from what i understand once the molds are done the "pre-sale" deal ends. So place your orders.

The four door also will be started right after SEMA. Another local GA owner is "donating" his car for that process.

Racecrafter
10-23-2003, 06:11 PM
OK here is some more info since I see some mis information.

First; The two door kit is $700 pre-sell and will sell for $1095 retail

The four door kit will pre-sell for $800 and retail for $1295.

The hood is pre-selling for $450 and retailing for $595.

The spoiler is ONE piece that will bolt directly into the factory holes. It is pre-selling for $250 and retail is $350.

Second; It's a show car that will be at SEMA in Ronal Wheels' booth. So if you go stop by and check it out.

I hear that it is supposed to be out of the paint booth by Tues-Wed. I will try and sneak some pics to post by Thurs.

Two questions.

Will this kit fit on a SE.

Is the pre sale kit the same body kit as the production?

AaronGTR
10-24-2003, 04:52 PM
I'm sure it will fit an SE because all body parts are interchangable between SE's and GT's. The kit will be the same. The distinction of "pre-sale" and "production" just means that the final kit isn't finished yet and you can order the kit before it's done for a discounted price. After the production molds are finished and the kit officially goes on sale the price will rise.

Racecrafter
10-28-2003, 05:35 PM
Until the molds are done. From what I hear it should be right about the end of November.

On another subject.........

It's out of the paint shop and back at RK Sport!!

I'm headed down there right now to take a look at it even though they say it needs to be "put together".

Pics maybe posted by tonite!!!!

Cyrus cuts a deal everytime i deal with them and i know that

Sure i can save a few bucks from a joe shmoe .com internet

different colored ones soon.

The hood is an exact SC/T replica.

No plans as of yet for CF.

Call in and let them know you want CF!!

Thats all I can tell you other than I'm totally happy with the way it came out!!! Trust me I've been fabbing parts in metal, fiberglass and Carbon for YEARS. And their stuff is truly awesome!

Ant
10-30-2003, 08:34 PM
AFAIK, it's urethane. There was an argument about this on page 8 or so with "polyurethane is a polymer of urethane and rubber is bouncy and that's why it's not used to make body kits and fiberglass breaks and..". but yeah...urethane. Supposedly the spoiler and the hood are entirely CF....w00t.... And one could assume that that gas cap was some sort of metal :)

Some of the problems that I will run into is where to store all the parts. Then I have to get it painted. Then installed. Then what do I do with my factory stuff? I don't want to sell it. I work it out in the future though cause I really want my car to look different from the rest. I really want this kit.

They may see business from in the near future. :)

Wow, I don't check the forums very often, and I get hit with this. My head is spinning.:duh:
Anyway, this looks hot. Real hot. I'm very impressed with the kit. I must admit, it looks a little Dodge Stratus-ish(please no flames guys) but hot nonetheless.
I used to have a full *** kit that got damaged, and planned on replacing it with another ***, and now that I see this I just have to wonder....
Someone mentioned mixing kits. I still have my *** sides and wing. I wonder how the front and rear of this kit would look with them. Can anyone who's good in photoshop chop me a pic with the *** sides and the front from this kit?
And another parts mix- How about the front only and everything else ***? Then we could add the SD also....
Or how about the front here, *** sides, and sc/t rear and spoiler?

What do you guys think of these combos? (as long as the heights of the pieces all match)
Please no flames about doing a combo kit here guys, just trying to mod my car again, and get it beautiful again. Well, to me anyway. And i'm still unsure as to what I want to do.
Heck, I might even just buy this whole kit! Or I could always go and do a full *** kit again....who knows.

Anyway, hit me with your opinions guys.

PS: EXCELLENT WORK to all who had a hand in getting this done. This is exactly what we need in the GA community.

one thing that i don't like is..well first of all it is definately the tightest kit around, but my problem is not with the look of the kit but the UGLEE price difference between a 2 door and a 4 door version! WHY OH WHY is the 4 door wersion like 300 bucks more expensive?! I mean same amount of plastic used to make the 2 door as the 4 door. unfair in my opinion. only thing that is keeping me from getting that kit in the future is that i have to pay more to do it on a 4 door

Do we have a peice by peice price, as in if I wanted to get the front and sides but not the rear?

Also, how will this effect cooling since there is now a big piece of material right infront of the radiator? I know thats what the air dam is for, but still?

the 2 cars are same in length, what doesn't go on the doors on the 2 door car goes on the big chunck where the rear doors would be on the 2 door car. if the cars are the same lenght and both sides are covered up to the same hight, no matter how many peices, its gonna take teh same amount to cover it up!

Just returned from SEMA. (I do have a job ya know) The body kit and other mods were well recieved. All in all every one seemed to like it.

A few of the GM designers really liked it. Hell they even have it selected it for a design award! We'll see if RK Sports efforts come through.

As for comments posted about the kit being "just" two more peices. Yes and no. It's actually four different pieces. The two door doors are differnt than the front two on the four door.

Molds are expensive! I'm guestimating that RK will spend about $60K in urethane molds for both 2 & 4 doors. Not to mention labor etc etc.

I'm hoping that it will return with some awards.

Though there has been talk about my GA going to Canada next year for some major car shows in Montreal and Toronto.

OK...you beat me to the punch cause I have been working with RKSport to get all the logistics worked on for us, you have some of the basics and some inaccuracies so here is the rest.
The group buy will last until Dec.15, 2003 after that you are out of luck, what you will get is a chance to save some major money and get one hell of a product.

Body Kit:
This is for the four door only; all pieces will be out of polyurethane,
this will include the front and rear fascia, side skirts and body panels. The kit will be available in mid to late January and our price will be $800.00 and then it will go up to $1295.00. Shipping to the east coast for example will be approx. 120.00
2 door will be $700.00 and go up to $1095.00 after close out.

Hood:
Made out of re-enforced fiberglass, it has a functional ram air design and will be a direct fit bolt on. The hood will be available in beginning to mid January as well. The price for the will be $450.00 and then go up to $595.00. Shipping to east coast for example will be approx. $110.00.

Wing:
Will be out of polyurethane as well and will be available in the beginning to mid January. The price for this piece will be $250.00 and then will rise to $350.00. Shipping will be approx. $40.00-$50.00.

They are making these kits to require very little prep work so the money you spend for the body shop will go towards the materials and very little to labor. They are working very herd to get a real clean fitment.

I have been asked to help coordinate the pre-orders for this site and two others. We have been given special instructions to use on the orders for users of this site. Once you have made up your mind for the kit please contact me so I can put your name on the list. Once we are set I will present this to them and we will get the ball rolling all those who love their car.

This WILL set the precedence for future group buys with RKSPORT so it is VERY IMPORTANT that we play by the rules and work together so we have a collective buying power that will rival no other. AGAIN make contact with me so we can get this group moving in ONE direction. If you have ANY questions let me know by PM or by my email jkesterson@sc.rr.com.

Jeff Kesterson = Robotix

Robotix
11-22-2003, 08:04 AM
I will also see if I can get the buy extended since it only gives people three weeks to come up with money make it happen. I will try and present it that if your on my list then you will be locked in. I will let everyone know as soon as I find out.

Robotix
11-22-2003, 08:11 AM
Also to put everyone's mind at ease all payments will be made directly to RKSport.

Robotix
11-24-2003, 07:10 PM
OK.... for those of you who are not able to get the money up in time for the deadline for the body kit, wing or hood I have another option!!

I am working on a deal to extend the offer out to all of those interested for two more weeks. The only way that this will happen is if your name is on my list. If your name is on my list then you will have two more weeks ( Dec.31 ) to pay for the stuff. I am waiting for confirmation for this arrangement and will know for sure tomorrow if this will be a go.

In order for use to show them our spending power I also need to know everyone's name that have already bought a kit, wing or hood and when you bought it so I can add you to our list.

By the way I have had very few responses to this offer, what is the hold up? We have another company providing a kit for us and no one wants to take them up on the offer. You will be saving some MAJOR MONEY!!!! I am just curious.

Kind of makes me wish I still had the Grand Am. Really great price on this kit, looks nice too. Good luck with the sales!

OK…here we go, I received confirmation that IF your name is on my list than you can pay by the 31st. I have to turn in the list by the 15th though so let me know. Also I am jazzed to tell you that we will get FREE SHIPPING on our orders!!!!!! This will save you a butt load of money!!! Let me know everyone!!!!!!!

Ok, not trying to be a jerk here but...who the hell are you anyway? Why do we have to go thru you? I talked to someone at RKsport (Mike ext.23) quite some time ago about this kit, and I already ordered it and gave them my payment info. And I'm already locked in at $700 for the 2dr kit plus $145 shipping. All this was done before the SEMA show last month and before you even started posting on this site, and I told them which website I found the kit on too. You weren't a member of this forum before this, no one knows who you are, where you're from, or what business you're in. Again, not trying to be a jerk, but I want to know, since anyone can order directly from them, and you just poped up out of nowhere and we don't know you, why should we trust you?

You will not be ordering from me personally, I am trying to get us on a collective buying power with them for future purchases. Also I am new to this site but have been on several others for some time now. This is also posted on two other sites again to show a greater buying power for future group buys that we want to do. Since you have already bought your kits I can add you to our list which again shows our collective buying power, all I need is your name and when you bought the kits as addressed in a previous post.....

No, I read all the previous posts so I didn't miss anything. My point is, the special price I got was for people pre-ordering the kit before it went into production. It had nothing to do with group buys. I have no problem with you trying to prove demand for a product to companies, in fact I think it's a good idea. However there's a contradiction in what you said. You said you were new to this site and then you said you've been a member since it split from GMpowertalk, although your registered date is november 2003 and it says you have a 2003 grand am. Also for the record, this site has never had any connection to GMpowertalk. It's an independent site started by Jeremy and Ryan for their cars. So maybe I just don't feel comfortable giving you information about myself or my purchase.

Exacatly.... There are NO schnanagins here don't worry and you don't not have to give me your life history, just your name and when you bought the kit, I DO NOT need social security numbers, birth dates, mothers maiden name, your favorite color or what your dog had for breakfast, and what your neighbors fart smelled like..........LOL

OK you guys and gals….I have some bad news…….The Rep at RKSport made a mistake. Free shipping is NOT included, but never fear, I told them due to their mistake there would be some mad people if I let this one roll. The manager agreed that if we get enough people on the list to buy then he would reduce the shipping costs by a percentage based on how many people sign up.

Now for the big dilemma, there has only been ONE person that has committed to this new kit, wing or hood. I was able to get us an extension on the prices to the end of December based on whoever put their name on my list before next Friday or bought a kit. But so far like I said above this is not what is happening. If you need some extra time to pay this off I need your name ASAP so I can forward this to them and I need it by NEXT Friday at 5:00PM, so if you want in let me know.

NO, people just like to do their own thing is all, and this body kit came out pretty sudden. People didn't know it was being made ahead of time, so they didn't have any money saved for it. Many people here also like to wait until the product comes out so they can see what it looks like and how good it is before they spend money on it. We're not made out of cash ya know.;)
