A while back my High Perf. Pontiac had a blurb (with a photo) about a Hot Wheels edition Grand Am slated for production. It was a blown V6 with a six speed, 18" wheels, lowered with a specific spoiler. Anybody heard anything about this?

Thought the article has stated it was going to be available with limited production. Actually thought GM had come up with a trans for FWD that could handle some torque. I'll have to dig up the article and refresh my memory. Was nice to have a fantasy about it anyway. :(

This is 1.5 years old. That car has already been torn apart and turned into another SEMA car (GXP). I don't think it ever had a real chance of being produced, and definitely doesn't now with the upcomg change being made. There is suppose to be some "special edition" in spring of next year though for the shipping out of this bodystyle

There were never any 6 speed supercharged Grand Ams. There is one 5 speed sc'ed one, it's sitting in either the desert proving grounds or michigan proving grounds right now (I don't remember what Spoon told me). Apparently it's the only transmission like it left too, custom etc....
I think RSM will do a 5 speed conversion & supercharger for the neighborhood of $8000 or somethin like that, I forget who was tellin me..

I believe that car sits at TDM in Michigan... I haven't been through there in a while so I'm not sure.... I know one of the SC/T's is sitting outside and has been since the picnic.
I know I told Rob about it in NY at the GAOC meet. I think you were there too. 5spd for the GA (you provide trans) goes about 2500 bucks. Combo that with an SC and you're in 8000-9000 neighborhood.

The car is at the MPG and it is the only trans left of 5 that were built. It was a variant of the old Getrag 284, and it only was rated at ~250 lb-ft of torque. A Getrag 282 is only rated at 195 lb-ft.

The blown V6 would have been nice to
see make its way to the GA. I have no
concern about them having a man box.
Too late in the game to see a hi-po GA,
I would assume -- with the exit in sight.

According to that statement I think it is possible to imply that the theory the "special edition" Grand Am that will be in limited production next year during it's transition out...won't be supercharged.

Darn. So that just "only" leaves the bigger, better, better looking, faster, supercharged Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp G, Pontiac Grand Prix GTP1, Buick Regal GS, Impala SS and Monte Carlo SS supercharged. :boogie: :D
When I get the $$ I'm buying one... likley the "base" GTP. :boogie:
Yeah I know the prototype Grand Am with the supercharger edged out the prodution 97-03 GTP in the 1/4... but I can buy this one and I honestly have to say I'd prefer an automatic in a sedan anyway. If I want a manual I'd buy a sports car.

GM likes to make really nice concept cars that will never see the light of day just to mess with us.

All car companies do that. It just sucks more with GM since they make the best concepts.
