View Full Version : Import and slap a Pontiac badge on it

Just found this earlier today. This car should be made as a left hand driver, imported to the U.S. and GM should slap Pontiac badges on it. This car is bad azz.

Wow, I can dig it.

I thought they were kicking the idea around of turning that into a Pontiac a few years ago, weren't they? Was it going to be the GTO and they shot it down hard? I thought that's what I heard a while ago.

From £629 a month. How much is that, (US).

If you're talking in English Pounds, that's a lot of dough (the pound is worth a bit more than the dollar, from what I've noticed)... Has anyone ever seen the Peugeot Diamonds & Spades concepts? Those coupes looked sweet, esp. considering they're made in France; hehe.

uh about $900 a month to own that thing

Keep in mind that's a 36-month loan they're talking about. The rates they're showing on the site are very high by current U.S. standards, too... 11.1% interest. Plus, they're assuming a rather high down payment of 25%, so the financed amount is $33,280.12.
If one were to finance that with current U.S. rates (say, 4.29%) over 60 months, the payment would be a little more reasonable at $617.27 a month.

I'm pretty sure the Vauxhall is just a rebadged Opel Speedster. Which has been out about 5 years now (in Europe) with no current plans to import the entire vehicle (hmmmm...). As for a Pontiac two-seater roadster, have you all forgotten the Solstice? It's slated for production and ought to be in the same range price and power wise. I fell in love with the concept version at the Woodward Dream Cruise this year.

quik... the Vauxhall is a rebadge Opel Speedster... there was talk early about bringing that car to the states as a Pontiac, but that didn't happen... shortly after the Pontiac Solstice concept, Vauxhall built a concept based off of the same underpinnings as the Solstice...which probably helped give the Solstice the green light...now that GM could use it as the platform for the Vauxhall and next Opel Speedster...
