View Full Version : Kumho MX 235 40 18 ??????
Anyobdy try these yet? Tire Rack have a pretty favorable opinion of them. Especially for the price! Anybody have an opinion of these tires???
btw, I'm looking for 235/40/18 tires. Anyone have any recomendations? I want MAX performance. Right now I'm deciding between the MX's, Eage F1's or BridgeStone Potenza's (S-03 or S-02).
I just wish the made the BF Goodrich G-Force in a 235........but no......somebody has to make my life difficult!
all opinions are welcome......yes, even Bob's :)

Well, I believe I am the only one on the boards that have them so far. I do have 225s, but still, I absolutley love them. I have complete confidence in them.. I can throw them into any corner, any road condition, at just about any speed below 50 and not get scared! They in my opinion have a very very nice ride quality, however, are kinda loud at lower speeds (<30). and about wet roads, oh! these things move water out of their way like nobody's business. They are still very sticky and comfortable in the wet.. overall.. I LOVE THEM. I will be buying 235's this winter thought, instead of my 225's, i just need side wall protection, i have none as of now..

My sumitomos rock
Good info Willie Thanks! Do you have any experience with Eage F1's? I'm wondering which are better......The F1's are a bit more expensive but are well known for performance.....Potenza's are TOO expensive ($200 ea.)The MX are a great price and I hear a lot of good stuff about them. I can't decide
Kuhmo MX - $153 Dry traction = 9 ------- Cornering = 8.7
Eagle F1's - $165 Dry traction = 9.2 -------- Cornering = 8.9
Potenza's - $200 Dry Traction = 9.3 --------- Cornering = 9
Yokohama AVS - $177 Dry Traction = 8.7 ------- Cornering 8.9
Which would you get??
Ice, You have a link to the Sumitomo's? They're not on Tire Rack.

update...
OK I found a great deal on 2 brand new Eagle F1's on e-bay....so if I win the auction I'll get 2 more from tire rack.....if not I buy a full set of MX's from tire rack. I'll know in 6 days 10 hours. :)

get some of the new nitto's w/ the asymetrical tread...rode in my friend's bmw and he just got some 215/40/19's...they are really nice and look good too
What kinda size is 205/40/19??? wtf Does he use them to cut pizza in his spare time?:p
Also, I'm looking for a MAX performance summer tire. I don't think any Nitto's can compete with the above listed tires.

215/40/19 on a 19" rim!!!! That can't be right, that rim would have to be around 7" in width which would be hell aghey. Especially on a BMW.
and to concur with PACE...Nitto's are only good for one thing...smoking the crap out of at the track.

I have Kumo Mx's on my car. You will not want to run them in the winter, but there are great Autocross tires. I Think they are better than the other ones you have listed there. At the last race I was at I found that my Kumo's stuck better than the Yokohama's and the Potenza's. There were two cars in my class that were running them. I beat them.(they were in smaller cars also.) Just my thought on this.
It looks like I am going to get out bid on the Eagle F1's on e-bay so I'll probably buy the MX's. Thanks everybody for the input.
I'm not even thinking about running them in the winter....I'm getting ready for next spring. I really just want the best DRY traction / cornering tire I can find without spending over $900 for the set.
I'm actually really suprised it turned out to be the MX's !

anyone heard of DA Daytona ZR BW 225/50/16's i can get 4 brand new tires plus an alignment for $480.00 are these tires any good. was told they wear out at 35,000 miles
Just because a tire is ZR speed rated doesn't mean its a good tire. The tire you mentioned aabove is a generic tire. Not bad for crusing around....but by no means is it a Max Performance summer tire. probably considered a good Touring tire.
