The easy answer is becasue they blow up every engine they touch. Besides that, I doubt you could use it anyway. Your headers will be completely different from an N-Body's.
I was just wondering why it seems the 3.4 have such a problem with turbo boost over S/C boost....or don't they?
Does the S/C kit (roots) need a reflash for fuel maps and such? I don't know much about the kit...like psi levels etc. I was wondering if you could just use the re-flash with the turbo kit....just as 00+ 2.4 j-body owners do with the GM S/C and turbo kits.
Shaw.....thanks for being a d!ck! Settle down!!
And I'm not a newbie. I've been a member here for about 2 years or so (ever since I had my 1998 GAGT). I just don't come here that often since I bought my Z-24.... so I tend to miss things And my wifes Alero will remain stock...forever...so I really have no need to keep up on mods for the 3.4! So sorry if I have cause you any trouble!

Don't get the ITS, they **** everything up that they put their hands on. The new HP one looks good, if not run a custom setup.

So, with a Cavy and an Alero that "will remain stock...forever..." what the hell does it matter about this kit?
ITS Turbo = It Totally Sucks Turbo
Just curious...thats all.
And the Alero will only stay stock because it's my wifes car. She dosen't want to drive around what she calls "a race car". :) She likes her car jsut they way it is......no matter how many times I try to convince her otherwise.

About the reason why turbos don't seem to work on a 3.4L.
I've ranted before so I will again.....
Most morons think they can just drop a turbo in without changing the program or injectors. WRONG.
This is because boost on a turbo comes on MUCH faster than a SC. I guess a twin screw will have the exact same problems, but that is another story.
Because it comes on at full boost so early in the power band (max boost at 2800 RPM or so) that the engine is VERY prone to detonation. SC's can get away with the stock computer because as I understand it, by the time it hits full boost it's at the top of the RPM band where the ignition is not near as advanced. So detonation is less likely and fixes like MSD DIS-4's are easy to do. (DIS-4 doesn't retard timing enough at the low end to help)
Another problem is many think you can build one without an intercooler. WRONG.
If you don't have an IC then you are just asking for trouble with detonation because of the really hot air going into the engine. Remember that turbines spin at several thousands of RPMs and that generates lots of heat, especially on turbos.
Another more minor problem is the number of people who think its advantageous to use manifolds. I'll just say there is a reason why we pick up 20HP with headers and leave it at that.
The moral of the story is, its the morons that kill the 3.4L with a turbo, not the turbo. Homegrown did it right from what I can tell. He took care of fuel and got a reprogram done. I'm getting HPP to make mine and so far it seems like it will be A1 quality. We have a guy programming it for us soon and I'll get numbers as soon as he is done programming it. I was told it should get done within the month, but no guarantees.
Another tidbit about ITS they actally told me that they only run 3 psi. HAHAHAHAHA

Correction: Homegrown did his right for the most part. Remember the whole detroying a piston issue. However, he is in the process of building everything so that it can handle stupid amounts of boost. Or at least he was last I talked to him...he's up to something.

What can I say? He got greedy and advanced timing too much, it worked up until then.....
Proof positive you got to be careful.

So let me get this straight...because you pay $3500 for a kit you believe it should be installed for free. Meaning, you think that is such a high price it should include install?
people need to learn about modding cars

You missed understood me.
I meant it as in a way, if i am going to pay 3500 ( which is a bit high for me) i would rather let them do it reather than a shop here in houston (also they know the kit so know what to do).
and as for the free install, just saying that it would be nice if they would. The only reason i say this is because i have seen it adversitsed on sites.
Buy (whatever turbo) and we install it free.

RSM installed my kit for free - I think you should ask HP to consider it as a promotional kind of thing.

I don't work for them, but my GUESS would be that they would if you brought it to them. When it's done and on sale call and ask.
And even if you did pay for it, I think they said they could do the install in about 6 hours. So I would say a day at most. And being in NM, it won't cost too much.

well if they would install it for me, i would drive up to NM :)
