Monaro (read: GTO) gets 4wd
Holden, General Motors’ Australian offshoot, will offer permanent four-wheel drive in the Monaro, the right-hand-drive equivalent of the reborn Pontiac GTO. The two-door revealed at the recent Sydney motor show also gets a host of exterior styling changes. The car goes on sale in Australia next June, but it is doubtful the four-wheel-drive system will make its way to the United States due to problems with fitting left-hand drive and the four-wheel-drive system into the car. Holden is already working on an engineering solution for left-hand-drive cars, which it hopes to adopt in time for the next-generation Monaro/Pontiac GTO due out in 2007.
