FYI - This will give you an idea of what the 2005 GA will look like (it is based on this platform: Epsilon)

This is the SAAB 9-3:

If it looks anything like the new 9-3 Vector, I'll be very pleased. The new 9-3 is the best-looking Saab I've ever seen. Where exactly is the Orion plant?

Let me get this right...

Hard-top vert
3.6L 250 hp
6 speed manual
optional AWD

Please tell me, where do I sign the dotted line.

ok, i'm confused. i thought the Grand Prix was suppose to be built on the Epsilon platform and resemble the 9-3. Doesn't that mean our cars will get bigger in size. not cool. i'm a little guy, so when i drive mt dad's GTP, i look like a old lady. i thought GA were considered closer to compact. well, if it has 250 hp, 6-speed, convert, the damn thing can look like a hoopty and i'll still drive it :D . i'm just curious about the price tag

It seems the Epsilon platform is going to be a VERY VERY versatile platform. I think it can be streched, shrunk, and twisted all sorts of ways and still be considered the epsilon platorm. just because it is built on the same platform as another car doesnt mean it has to look anything like it. Take the Malibu and the grand am and aleros. the malibu looks nothing like either but both are on N-body platforms. Camary and the toyota highlander. same platforms.

Last I heard, the next GP will be built on a modified W platform again. After that, who knows. I bet that it moves onto the Sigma platform with Cadillac and Holden.

Just what I wanted to read.

They will probably keep the name though, why change the name of one of your best selling cars? It wouldn't make any sense unless they thought of a name that has some kick to it, who cares though. Its got 250hp, 6speed and will likely be the same size and weight that it is now.

Guessing this:
a sub 20 dollar car with a high end GT model around the low 20's that can do 0-60 in less than 6.5seconds and do the 1/4 in the mid 14's. Sounds good to me. I'll just wait till they come out and buy one. Likes the idea of putting the 3.6L in there too.

Add 4grand and you'll have a s/ced GA with over 325hp?
Well just have to see.

Thats a long 1 and a half to 2 years. You would have drove yourself insane waiting by the time it came out lol.

Plus this gives you time to fool around with the current engine we have.;) *you haven't seen close to what the engine is capable of yet, experiment and you will find out*

all I know is I am not going to be like the people with the 1999 GA's that hate the car cause of all its problems, I will be waiting for the 2nd year of the model. I don't want no bugs.

Don't hate mine at all. In fact, it is the best and most reliable car I have owned. The secret is to purchase GM vehicles when General Motors is on strike as I did!:p

And to top it off, the chassis appears to be the same through all these years, even to 2003. That means I invested in a vehicle that has significant longetivity.

I didn't mean to be bad mouthing, it just seems like the 99 version ppl complain a lot more about. but then again they have also had theirs for a much longer time than I have had mine. That is a good idea too by the way.

99 was the 1st year of this model GA. 1st model years ALWAYS have problems.

I have a '99 GT w/ 70500k on it. Got it late '98. Love it.

Only problems I've had with it was the Upper Intake gasket, Valve Gaskets, and Oil Pan Gasket all under warranty (at 55000k miles). Plus the annoying tire/wheel noise crap. Which was finally fixed, and ever since changing to Dunlop tires never shown up again, plus much better traction than the stock tires.

Dought there will be a S/C version............well, since there is going to be a proformance division for Pontiac I'll take that back. I just don't see it coming in the first year though.

From what I've heard from people, the G6 is basicly what the Grand Am will look like. Alot of things will change though, because they perposly do concepts like that to see how "we" react and they will change the things we don't like and keep the things we do. But still, the G6 concept is kind of a hint of what the GA will look like. Just don't take the concept to seriously though ok. One thing I hope that they do is use the interior of the G6 concept for the GA, it looks sweet.
