I have a 00' grand am Gt. Recently there has been a "squeaky noise" coming from wheels while I am driving. It sounds like its in the brakes but I'm not positive. The noise only happens while driving, when I hit the brakes the noise stops. It is really loud between 5-25 mph. And when I get up to higher speeds it either stops or the noise is muffled by the air. I have just recently got my brakes replaced(9 months ago) and am not a hard driver. I have inspected the rotors and calipers and they appear fine. Could it be dust in the brakes rubbing against my wheel as I drive, a bearing, or something else. I haven't called my dealer yet because I wanted to see what kind of answers I could get here. The noise is really annoying and I love my car so I don't want anything wrong with it. Please Help.

I guess nobody likes me. Well I don't know why I post a reply since it is just writing back to myself......but maybe this will help somebody with a similar problem. I cleaned and lubed the brakes and the noise is less than before but it still does chirp every know and then.....the dealer said i needed new struts but not for $450.

I ran into something like this once when I changed my own brakes... the clips that the pads sit in were not bent properly and were rubbing against the outer edge of the disc. It made a scratching/squeaky noise that you would only hear with the windows open.
