Ok i am at 100k now.....and i need to replace my lower intake.
it is broken where the thermostat housing bolts into the intake....so my t-stat housing is not on tight ...so i have to remove the entire intake and replace it....

is this easy or should i have a shop do it...any advice?

i am decently mechanically inclined by the way.

It's not too terribly difficult, but it does take time - i.e. if you haven't done this repair before, plan on taking an entire day. Get yourself a service manual to help along the way and work carefully, labeling everything you remove (there's a lot). Remember to get any and all needed supplies before you start (gaskets, RTV sealant, coolant, etc.).

Personally, I'd rather pay someone who knows what they are doing to tackle the job - my time is worth more than what they charge for the repair.
