Ok, now I know that the CAI will be better than the ramair of a hood, right? My question is how much better. See, I have the SC/T hood that I would love to make functional, but I also want hp/tq. How much of a difference would you say there is between a true CAI and ram-air from a hood. Thanks guys.

I have the sc/t hood as well, and have recently cut a small portion of my box so air coming in the hood will rush near the filter.
It worked SO well, in fact, a GRASSHOPPER was stuck to my air filter last friday!! He was sucked in, and headed to my cone.
I will tell you this, between the heat shield, pvc ducting and now 2 hood scoops, Daaaammnnn.
If you have a "civic" intake, DITCH IT and make a heat shield...

thats's an interesting setup.. are you gonna post pics of it? maybe a how-to on all that stuff with the lexan and PVC piping?
does anyone else have any input on this subject?

Just order some Lexan sheeting from www.mcmaster.com They will ship the bulletproof stuff to you very quickly. It took them a week to reach me.
I used a 1/2" thick sheet to make my box. You will want to order, at the least two 1X3 pieces, to make a good box. You can design one yourself when you remove the airbox. I will post pics on this thread later on of my box.
As you can see from the pics, it is very hard to cut the 1/2" lexan.
1. Go with 3/8 to reduce this issue. The lexan is very strong and durable, IT WILL NOT MELT. I have held a lighter underneath mine and not felt any heat transfer thru the lexan.
2. Nab some cardboard and use it to make a mock-up of the "box" that you will encapsulate the cone in...
3. You can even maintain the Factory Ramair by creating the proper holes in the Lexan Box. Also you can leave the top open if you are using a ramair hood. And you may also want to leave the side by the wheelwell open and route a cold air duct to that side of the box. ((((I recommend that you tear out the resonator, the portion of the ramair that goes down under the washer fluid bottle.... it goes no where and is NOT functional. Route dryer duct from there to the Lexan Box.))))
4. Also you will need a STRONG adhesive if you do not bolt/rivet the sheets of the box together. I recommend GOOP, especially the type for polystyrene/ploycarbonate.
5. The hardest and most tedious part is cutting for the air intake tube to fit into the lexan box and onto the filter from the TB. But the sensors needed to have holes cut in the box so they could go thru into the intake tube.
....With all that said, I believe that the combo of a small heat box around a Civic Style CAI tube, to a cone in the fenderwell is the best. You will have more ramair to the filter and colder air if you set it up properly in the airflow.
Whew...
