10 easy steps to working power windows
By jeffescortlx
If your power window's only go up a inch at a time than stop, this mod's for you, you can fix it easly and for free.
The actual motor it's self it built well and is plenty strong, the problems in the internal breaker, it gets weak over time.
To fix the internal breaker follow these steps:

1) Remove door panel and locate the opening to access the back of the motor, the end bell. It's a nylon plastic looking peice. Then unplug the motor.

2) There are 3 tabs bent over the end bell that hold it in place. Bend the tabs out and remove the end bell.

3) There should be 2 brushes and 2 spring that will fall out, just find them and put them in a safe place.

4) On the inside of the end bell there is a black strip that runs from the plug to the brush spring housing, that is the breaker. Cut it out and remove it.

5) Solder a peice if wire in it's place, should be around 16 AWG.

6) Put the springs and brushes back in the end bell and hold them in all the way. Take a small drill bit the diameter of a paper clip and drill a hole at the tip of the brush's though the end bell, then stick a paper clip though both holes you just drilled to hold the brushes in place.

7) Install the end bell back on the motor, bend the 3 clips back.

8) Pull the paper clips put, you should here a nice "click" as the springs push the brushes into the armature.

9) Plug in the motor and test it, it should go up and down better than new.

10) Put the door panel back on.

There is still a main breaker in the fuse box, so it's safe. I'v done this to both front widow's about a year ago, they both still work great.
