the new malibu 3.5 engine sounds nice, and if it proves to be a good engine u guys this it will be an easy swap with our 3.4?

Probably. But I don't think many people here know all the specs (size) of the engine to say for sure. I've never even seen the thing in person yet.

I thought that sort of thing wouldnt work because isnt the engine computer linked with the transmission and the rest of the car, I thought that our GA's(and all late model cars)were put together to make that pretty much impossible... Correct me, I might just be wrong, but seriously... HOW? I'd assume if it was possible, we would need to be swapping alot more than just the engine and transmission to get it to work.

It's possible, just look at the SEMA GA. I believe it's just a bored out 3.4.
As far as getting it to run without throwing codes and such, well, that'd be a lot of money :)

We have one of the new Malibu's with the 3.5 in it at Enterprise, where I work. I really didnt notice any substantial power increase over the 3.4. I drove the malibu with the 3.5, then a 2004 Grand Am GT with the 3.4. Overall, I thought the 3.4 in the gagt had more get up and go power than the Malibu.

Yes you can do it. 3500's have no power steering. No problem, the power steering pump off a 3400 will bolt right up.
The Exhasut setup is diff. on the 3500, once again no problem, engine dimensions are the same, the 3400 Exhuats manifolds/headers can be use.
The 3500 uses a diff crank sensor, than the 99-02 3400 the 03 3400 share the same sensor, A) just get ahold of a 03 PCM or just order a PCM from DHP for a 03.
also the 3400 topend is the exact same, so for someone like myself with head work and manifolds i could just swat the 3400 top end on.
I was tosing the idea around last month, but trying to find one is going to be hard as hell and i found something better to spend my modding money on ;)
All this should be correct unless Brad has found some more way to prove me wrong :p

Yeah but as i said you can just swap the entire top end over. you dont even have to do that, the stock 3400 TB will fit on the 3500's Fugly manifold
