Is the fuel filter a black square box or a cylinder type thing?

yeah, direct shot of gas in your ear does not feel good! :rolleyes:
don't be scared by that though, it was completley a fluke..

Where is the "schrader valve" located to de-pressurize the line? Is this necessary?

um.. not completley necessary, but i would, and did. it is on the end of the fuel rail on the passenger side.. just search, this topic has been beaten to death and there is a picture floating aorund of the schrader valve

...the fuel rail test port is on the passenger side of the engine, near the power steering pump. Here is a picture of it's approximate location (a brass "tee" is installed onto the test port in this picture).

Yes, if I where doing it, I would...but me, I took it in to the dealer to have it changed for like about $55Cdn [about $44US] (about 1/2 for the fuel filter & 1/2 for the labour)

naaa I did it in my garage took me more time to jack the car up then it did to change the filter. I lied on the passange side, good thing i did because it shot fuel 6 feet towards the driverside lol

half of 44 for the fuel filter.. sorry. they are 9 dollars.. the dealer just chargeds you 35 for 8 minutes of labor..

Have a catch pan. Loosen the screwed on end till it starts to drip.
Toss a paper towel over it and wait. It won't take long to depressurize the line.
