You will need three MSD interface modules for this installation MSD PN-8870.
MSD GM DIS Ignition Controls >>> http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=4322&prmenbr=361
MSD Digital DIS Ignition Control (Need PN6215) >>> http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=3072&prmenbr=361
You can get these from summit racing, jegs, ebay, and some other stores.
1) Disconnect battery. Negative terminal first and then positive. Make sure you connect negative at last.
2) MSD does not recommend platinum spark plugs or solid core spark plug wires, If you use this ignition box. I really don't know how will the box work for those who have platinum plugs.
3) Remove stock coils from the module plate. Make sure to mark the spark plug wires.
4) Now do one by one wire connection with each of the interface modules, they have 4 wires sticking out, two whites and two black ones. (see picture below)
5) Locate where you want the box to be secured and placed. I have mine behind the stereo console underneath and ran wires thru the fire wall by the steering wheel column.
6) After connecting all the wires properly, (see picture below for wire connection) connect the msd box. I have the original settings on the SW1, SW2 & SW3 switches.
7) Re-connect battery and start the car. Remember negative at last.
8) RPM may drop to 500. I called msd about it and they said that it was normal. The MSD box will also make a buzz sound, which is also normal.
9) Check for spark. HOw? With the car off remove one by one spark plug wire from the coil and then start the car to see if there's spark. WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH spark plug wires when they are not connected with the coils. YOu may get an electrical discharge. It happened to me back then, It sucked.
10) After all cylinders are getting spark, you're done!!!! This means the box was installed properly. YOu may also go back to stock ignition set up by plugging in the by pass supplied.
11) Enjoy!!!!
