View Full Version : Alternator on 95 GT 3.1

Today I've got the fun task of replacing the alternator on my girlfriends 95 with the 3.1....Anyone have any tips to help me out? I've never done the alternator on the 3.1/3.4 so I was just wondering if there were any surprises. I did change the alternator on my 95 with the 2.3, and that was a real biotch, so hopefully this isn't as bad.
Also, anyone know what size wrenches I'll need?

gonna to have to remove the belt, and use 13 mm, 15 mm, and possibly a 8 or 10 mm...cant remember. But definatly a 13 and 15. Its a pretty easy job if you know what your doing...I've got it down to 10-15 minutes to replace one. After the belt is removed...all there is holding the altenator on is 2 bolts, then a small nut holding the main power line down and 1 harness. Also, make sure to remove the positive battery cable before doing this job.

ummm....not bad. what i did was use a long stick, stuck it down in the engine bay under the tensioner, and pushed down.
