Well, more power to you, but in the end... it's still a PT cruiser

IIRC (when my parents had one as a rental) there's not a lot of room in them.

the PT cruiser turbo is just a neon SRT-4 with a wierder exterior on it, get the SRT04 instead.

^^^wtf

are you sure?? i doubt the PT turbo has 230hp, and 250 ft./lbs of torque

PT's are sweet little cars...they can be fixed up to look really pimp, just a switch of the grille, and the car looks totally different

PT has 220@5100, Torque Of 245@2800
SRT-4 has 230@5300 and Torque Of 250@2200

For like 3K more you could have the GTO w/ 350@5200, Torque Of 365@4000..

How do you figure?

SRT-4 = 21K
Turbo PT = ?? 24K ??
GTO 33K + markup.

How does that equal 3K?

The PT cruiser is one of the dumbest looking "cars" of all time.

 Good choice!!

I was thinking about that too. I like the looks of the PT Cruser better than the boy racer SRT4, and it's still faster than a GAGT and has PLENTY of room for modification and lots of aftermarket, even Mopar aftermarket that will not void your warranty.

I'd even go for the automatic and not wait for the 5-speed that's going to be availale soon.

The PTs are so-so looking in my book....When I first saw the convertible, I wanted to pluck my eyes out. Talk about a sand-pail with wheels

Well since you asked, I think the PT Crusiers are ugly and a chicks car. If you are going in that direction, just get the Neon SRT that runs 1.3 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile.

A Grand Am is a chicks car too, along with Jetta, Mustang V6, Mercury Cougar etc... Are you secure enough in your manhood to be driving a chicks car?

well i like the look of the pt cruiser....still gives me vibes of the 30s cars....and i cant stand how the neon looks.....i dont wanna be caught dead in one of them thing.....and i dont plan on drag racing or street racing so no need to worry bout 1/4 times, if its fun to drive and i like how it looks and feels inside then thats what ill probably get

I rather drive a GAGT then a PT cruiser any day! A Neon is also a chicks car, but the SRT probably won't be driven by too many females. That is response to Mike.

If it makes you happy, then go for it!

You should check out what some of these people have done to their cars.

http://www.mopar.com/perf_pt.htm

You are the smart one buying the car with aftermarket support and a car company that provides performance upgrades and does NOT void your warranty!!

Actually, I think you suck since I don't have one.

Drive whatever you like. I had a Grand Am GT as well.

SRT4 will be driven and crashed by rich teenagers. I do like the car, but the PT has some character, where the SRT4 is a high performance Neon. Not a bad thing, but, I like the slightly slower PT better.

Good for you!! I agree about drag racing, the PT is plenty fast for the street anyway.

Did you check out that forum?

I have seen some WS6's r1ced out that look much worse than that thing. People will ruin any good car. Failing to see your point.

Yeah....please don't get the PT Cruiser. Gheyest car EVAR, along with the VW Bug.

And yes, it is a suv/minivan on a neon chassis/suspension/brakes. Piece of junk when it comes to quality.

Spend the same money and buy something decent.

[edit] And they look nothing like the cars from the 30's. Those guys knew how to design cars....

PT:
Invoice Price: $26,751
Retail Price: $28,810

SRT-4
Invoice Price: $18,970
Retail Price: $20,450

GTO
Invoice Price: $29,410
Retail Price: $31,795

There you go, straight off yahoo autos..

It depends on the trim level you get, but that is the Dream cruisor that I'm talking about..

lol I'm not offended. It's all good.

I'm just sayin you can ruin any car. It hurts my eyes worse to see a r1ced out Camaro or Trans Am, that crap has no place on either of those cars. Unfortuinatley I keep seeing Camaro's with single and 25" round tips and 40ft dual tier wings on the back on them around here. :nono:

No, I don't own a Chrysler product of any kind, I never have. I might in the future.

I do think the PT Crusier is pretty nice but I hated it too when it first came out. There is so much aftermarket for it, it's crazy, and now they turbo'd it. I can't help but like it.

Yep... I'd buy one.

I didn't realize the PT got up that high....and with the GTO, you need to add the 6-spd. I saw one on the lot at 33K (only option being the 6-spd), and the salesman told me there was a 10K markup on it right now.

It's a suv/minivan/worst looking car EVAR on the old neons' chassis/suspension/brakes. What a killer combo.

It's on the current Neon platform.

And in-expensive factory performance upgrade parts that will not void that warranty.

The new Neon platform was designed when the previous gen Neon was still being sold.

If it was on the old Neon platform, I would agree it to be a POS, the previous gen Neon was a deathtrap, rattlebox POS car.

Yeah... but the new Neon platform was designed off the old one too.

He probbably just meant that it was designed off the Neon platform, and it is.

Look it up. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

"Chrysler's Neon subcompact platform was modified and a unique rear suspension was created to enhance stability and minimize the intrusion of chassis components and the passenger/cargo area. This brilliant design is intelligent, efficient, flexible and offers a wide range of possibilities for refinement and future designs."

http://www.reviewsonline.com/auto/00chptc.htm

There you have it, also I know they improved the Neon itself in 99 for the 2000 models they were making.

PontiacGT2K

He swears it was built on the old neon platform.

Logic would tell me the same. If they re-designed the chassis, and used it on the PT Cruiser before they used it on the new neon....don't you think it'd be called the "PT Cruiser Chassis"?

Hell, then they could even boast that the new Neon had the PT Cruiser Chassis, that'd help sales or something.

Even still.....the old Neons' blew. They were rickety pieces of crap. Then they built the PT Cruiser on top of it. It looks ugly, and you know what's underneath is ugly too.
