View Full Version : Grinding Noise
When I am at a full stop and then accelerate when the car shifts into 1st and 2nd gear it makes a grinding sound when it first shifts and then goes away. I have noticed that it does it more when it is cold outside. Does anyone know what the noise can be thanks.

It could be that your shift linkage needs to be adjusted, or there could be something wrong with the transmission.

Ouch. Sounds like a pretty serious trans problem to me. I don't know if I'd suspect the linkage unless it was when you first put it in gear. If it happens at a stop light or whatever and not just when you put it in gear, I'd put my guess that your trans is going.

that sucks big ~ have the tranny checked out ~ if its happening at a stop light its the tranny pump if driving it could be the gears or pump .02
Today i heard it in the morning it was like 28, I go out for lunch its in the mid 40s and i dont hear anything i dont get it.
Im gonna have i checked out anyway i still got a warenty on it and it should be covered.

sometimes things only happens when the tranny is warmed up.. so that could be a reason too
I took it to the dealer they said "we dont hear any noise" I wasted my time AGAIN with GM
