This guy says that he has accord coilovers on his ga. I guess that's possible, all that would really matter is that the springs are the same diameter. What's everyone else think about this?

Someone? Anyone?

when i get home i'll try to go to the garage and measure the diameter of my stockers sitting around. i'll tell you what i find.
jordanGT

the measurements i got for the INNER DIAMTER of the stock springs (keep in mind, these aren't probably exact, just close, to see if the accord's are around the same) were: 5 and 3/4 inches for the fronts and 4 in the back.
I have been thinking about coil-over so I figured I would bring this thread back to life.....
Accord Coilovers are compadible with ga's
Accord coilovers are all over E-bay for $100
Dragginbody sells ga compadible coilovers for $250......
1 + 1 = 2
You guys think that the adjustability of coilovers would ALWAYS throw off your alignment....so everytime you adjusted ride height you would neen an alignment....right?
*so if anybody wants GA coilovers for $250....let ME know...after I get your $250 I'll go on e-bay and buy them for $100 and ship them to you:)

hey p-dog yeah it would throw them off, The best you could do is mark where it is aligned at and try and run them there the most
and only really drop it when needed
BB
sounds like more of a pain than its worth.....I guess I be getting H&R's.....
edit: where's your monkey dude? that one is so damn funny.....

I'll post him for a couple minutes you can right click and save picture as on him and he can be yours too..
.... lol lol lol
So they are a direct bolt on?. Which years accord works. Anybody else try it yet. Are we talking about full coil-overs or just sleeves?
sleeves....The ones for the newest body style....like 99+ or something...

SWEET, im very interested in seeing if these honda coilovers work. I didnt know that you had to get an alignment everytime you screwed with the coilovers. Why would you have to do that? how does it screw up the alignment? Someone enlighten me on this.
changing the ride height changes the camber of the wheels...so they need to be recalibrated....I'm not sure if "Camber" is the right word...
higher you go: bottom of wheels get closer to gether- \\--------//
lower you go: -top of wheels get closer together.... //---------\\
IS THIS CAMBER??
HavolinGA
11-15-2002, 12:29 PM
i thinkyour right but you could always aline your wheels yourself with one of those self alignment kits and save your money
o yea ups said the coil over will be here in a few days may 2-4 days they are coming from CA

I got outbid...GRRR!! I had 10 minutes left so I decided to read through the forums. An hour later, I realized my mistake. I do notice that some say they are for the 4cyl and some are for the 6cyl and some don't say anything... any ideas on which one I need?

I would recomend the ones for the v6. Due to the fact thet your GA has the V^ it just makes more sense to me
Dr_Kyle
11-17-2002, 12:15 AM
yeah that's what I figured... maybe the V6 accord is heavy enough to warrant different springs... I don't know really. Some auctions didn't even list the models, just the years. I'm so ****ed about that auction. The set of four went for just $26!! GRR!!:rage: :rage:

Dr_Kyle
11-17-2002, 08:01 PM
well, they were used and I doubt people will pay alot for used springs that were only $100 to begin with. :)

Anybody buy these yet???
Dr. Kyle, you bid on another set yet....there are some good deals on them right now on E-bay...

I can tell u this.. they won't fit the front or won't drop the front any lower than the eibachs or h&r's... Cuz it looks like the springs themselves are 7 1/2" long. the front h&r springs compressed are 7" long.. so you'll be raised up 1/2" ... but the back will work perfectly. Depending on if the sleeve fits the strut correctly.
or u could just put the back on and sell the other 2 springs to someone else.

My impressions is...Who cares if the springs are longer b/c the threaded ring goes up inside the spring....up to 4 inches...So its like having a 3 inch spring with the travel of a 7 inch spring....RIGHT????
.....and BTW, you don't think that H&R's are 7.5 uncompressed??

That works for me because all I want to lower is the back. I already have H&R's and the front really can't afford to go much lower (pesky speed bumps). The back could easily lose another inch without hurting anything. I asked the guy draggnbody or whatever his name is if he'd sell me just the back two and he said no.

well thats what dragginbody's coilovers problem with his was.. that the front one actually raised the car up from nyugen on aleromod tryed to put his set on.. but thats all been fixed by dragginbody getting shorter springs than 7.5 to use in the front or else it won't go any lower even when its set all the way down.
don't get me wrong.. the springs will still work in the front but you'll just won't go lower than 2" in the front because the spring is too long. the back once again as stated is fine because it has more than enough room to play.

go over to aleromod.com .. everyone got theirs .. the reason why he has negative feedback is because his supplier was late in getting him the parts.. go pm or ask grouch .. grouch investigated to make sure no one was scammed. also grouch is on here too.

Personally...I'd try the cavalier coilovers before the accord. I found a website that listed aerospeed coilovers for cavalier/99+grand am. They also have shorter front springs.

Personally I would not go for those cheap coil overs on ebay. Pay more and get yourself Skunk 2 or Ground Control. I have Skunk 2 on mine and I'm very happy with them. Ride just like the H&R on my old GA.

I now sell pretty much the same setup as draggin used to. The sleeves are custom made and the springs used are made by h&r. only i also sell custom stock struts and hopefully custom KYB struts.

problem with the cavi coilovers or accord coilovers is the spring rates that come on those springs. i believe almost all of them are 500 lb springs.
good like driving your GA on the road with those springs.
sometimes when it comes to thinks like coilovers for our cars....... not very many options. so you can buy what works......... or not.

what? accord coilovers or custom setup like draggins. I have a custom setup on my car. the ride is definetly tolerable IMO, but my opinion may be totally different than yours.
oh, and my custom setup i have on my car was made by me, not dragginbody
