www.rockauto.com has two. Gates and AC Delco - both around $30

When I was at Auto Zone yesterday, they had a big poster in the window that says they carry them now. They also had two boxes of GTS headlight covers for 99+ Grand Am. Thats kinda unusual.

unless you have your heart dead set on buying one the cheaper ones do just as good. i had a gatorback and couldn't tell any kind of difference. ran the same, sounded the same, installed the same way.....only difference was the name.

and i got mine at autozone too

I have had no problem with the stock one.
Is there really a difference? If so, what is the difference??

I think it's supposed to be quieter and last longer, but I'm not sure

I need to change my belt. It's the end of my second one. I have 173,000 miles. That means a stock belt will go 85,000 miles.

well, that's just a round about number. my girlfriends 99 has 90,000 on the stock belt, but i've seen factory belts that didn't hold up for 50,000.

yeah, they're supposed to be quieter, but i don't ever recall hearing my belt anyway. maybe the pulleys it was turning, but if your pulleys are making noises you've got more problems than a bad belt

so you're saying that you couldn't tell any difference with the gatorback belt? i find that disappointing, but oh well. i never did notice much noise from the stock belt in the first place (until it went bad), but i just thought if a gatorback would be quieter that would be good.

I bought a Gatorback, haven't really noticed any difference, which is rather disappointing after paying ~$40 for it.

I heard the Gatorback belt had a kind of whistling sound when you rev your engine . Anybody notice this ? Also , my stock belt used to squeal after i started it on a very cold day , but since i disabled the ALC it doesn't do it anymore . I guess it takes a load off the alt. because the lights don't come on anymore .

Isn't that kind of a disadvantage? you wouldn't be able to hear when your belt is going out... wtf doesn't sound too advantageous to me... I like knowing when something is going out before it does without having to look under my hood every day...
