...ok...i'm sorry if this has been posted already... i did search and found somethings... but some of the things i read kinda conflict... that and the type of person i am i just want clarification... ok... so what is the bolt pattern for a 99 GT... i'm LOOKING at new rims... not definite yet... but they have them in a 5x114.3 pattern and a 5x100 pattern... i was told that we have a 5x115 pattern (but they said a 5x114.3 would fit)... someone else told me 5x100... so can u see why i'm confused...thanks for the help

I always thought it was 5x114.3 but I learned something today.

if you get rims with 5x114.3's, you're going to need "tuner lugs" as well as a centering ring to render the rim "hub-centric". Some people have complained of vibrations, but my rims (114.3) feel perfect (actually better than the stockers).

There is no 5x100 for the 99+'s

Oh, one last thing, good luck finding locking lug nuts that won't shear off a stud, they're non-existant... :(

if u get 114.3 rims do u need hub centric ring?
will u feel vibe's w/out the ring....

such a heated debate on this one :(

yes and most likely yes. Unless the rim is already manufactured to be hub centric for 99+ Grand ams, then you need a centering ring. Without, the rim would have to enter "stud-centric" mode and would probably not be too happy.

If do it properly, you should feel no vibrations, I know I don't from 0-130 mph. If people have told you otherwise, their rim wasn't set up properly.

why do manufacturers have to have different bolt patterns? is there an advantage to a 5 lug or 4 lug?

Why they gotta be so complicated! If we all had the same bolt pattern, wheels would be hella easy to come by ;)

and hella easy to steal them and turn around and sell them too

this is odd... turbose's rim doesn't fit on the rear...but IrateGT's do... hmm...

...Rob, where could i get these items that you are talking about... cuz i just ordered the new rims tonight...

TurboSe has an SE with drum brakes in the back.. Hence, IrateGT has a GT with rear disc brakes in the back.

I need to clear up some misconceptions here.

Hub-centric and lug-centric are two completely different things, yet they are both important to proper wheel fit.

Hub-centric means the centerbore (the large hole in the middle of the wheel) is machined to precisely fit on the hub of the vehicle. Now, since it'd be expensive to precisely machine the centerbore of every wheel to fit every car, manufacturers usually provide 1 or 2 centerbore sizes and rely on hub-centric rings to "shim" the certerbore around the hub for a snug fit. Why is this so important? The hub is meant to bear the stress of vehicle mass, not the lugs!

Lugs and lug nuts (or lug bolts on vehicles with threaded hubs) are designed for one thing - to hold the wheel onto the hub. That's it. Lug-centric means the lug holes in the wheel precisely match up to the lugs (or threaded lug holes) on the hub. If they are even the slightest bit off, it becomes difficult to maintain equal tightness on each lug, because when you torque a lug nut (or bolt), the torque center (not sure if that's the correct term, but anyone who has engineering knowledge knows what I'm referring to) is not precisely on the center of the lug - this is why it is so vital to check lug nuts for tightness on wheels without the proper bolt pattern. If you can't get equal clamping force on all the lugs, the possibilty for lug or lug nut failure is much greater.

Having a hub-centric wheel (or a wheel with hub-centric rings) is more important than a lug-centric wheel, but personally I wouldn't take one without the other, especially on the racetrack.

Just my two cents.
