Question I was just thinking, and Aleroboy also brought this up........

Boost is essentially the resistance or back pressure of air flow being forced into a engine........stay with me here, so in turn if lets say you have heads, upper intake, lower intake, 62mm throttle body, and headers wouldn't there less of a resistance for all that forced air therefore lowering boost numbers??

So lets say since I have all this done I get the rsm charger kit. they say 6.5 (just a figure) pounds of boost on a normal stock internal engine. what about my engine; 2.5 pounds of boost?? can my engine even make that useful?? would it even be effective enough to justify the cost?? Would I essentially have to get a significatly smaller pulley to up the boost enough to where it was actually forcing air into my engine...........

I guess it kind of goes the other way to............for those who have boost, if you have this all motor work done will it even be worth it??

Just some thoughts................

go custom! :D

you'd prob get a good t4 turbo and juice on that now. atleast you can go a high rpm turbo now that the rest of us couldnt handle...

Anything is possible with enough $$$

I seriously doubt that the boost will drop a significant amount. Since the RPM's build the boost with a supercharger, then it doesn't matter how quickly the RPM's climb (horsepower, basically). The boost is still RPM-produced and thus, should remain unchanged. The 'blower' still blows the same amount of air at a given RPM, it just raises the RATE of acceleration..

HOWEVER, with porting work, there is more volume to fill. Not much, but some. I would estimate that if you DID see a loss of boost, it wouldn't be more than ~0.2 PSI MAX.

actually don't the GPers lose boost when they do mods liek Sorry Officer has done? To combat this they just swap in smaller pulleys. I'm not too educated on this but I think that by upping the boost via smaller pulley with mods will not give you a problem with knock retard.

A GTP with just headers sheds aobut 3 lbs of boost.
it's not loosing anything though. it's just able to move that much more air. boost pressure is resistance that the motor can't take.
so it creates pressure.

An SC would help you but it would show very low boost numbers because your motor is able to move more thant a regular 3400.
however when pressure drops like this, you can put on smaller pullies to raise it back up and make that much more power.

This is exactly what I was trying to say earlier. The boost given by the SC will still be the same. And yes you could probably up the amount safely with a smaller pulley...if your pcm/fule delivery could handle it.
